As of late I'm seeing a lot of Tumblr blogs with Adsense. I used to run a few NSFW blogs, push the traffic to my own site and monetize from there. My blogs where banned many months ago, after seeing blogs with Adsense I was wondering if they had toned down the rules regarding advertising?

I always thought there was more to Tumblr, I wouldn't mind giving it another try.

I'm not sure if you can use adsense on a web2, why don't make your own site and drive the traffic from tumblr as before ?

I personally wouldn't do it. It puts you on Tumblr's ban radar and doesn't really convert that well to begin with. I have a Tumblr that's getting 30-40 new followers a day and I'd only get maybe 15-30 visitors to the page a day according to Google Analytics. I've even set up an email capture on that page but it only gets me a single email subscriber like once a month if I'm lucky so I'd guess the Adsense conversions will be similar.

Most people just interact with your posts when they're seen in their feeds anyways so if you're monetizing by sending people to your own website, then you'll probably get better conversions that way, not to mention avoiding the risk and ugliness of putting ads up.
