Both are crap, they rely on google search, not on youtube search. The most important things as all the people say are retention, CTR title, and thumbnail. I tried to rank so many videos with vidIQ and didn't manage to do that but when I started to use my brain instead of that tool, I had way better results.
I agree with RoyalCobra; both of those tools are not accurate at all when it comes to search volume.
My 2 favourite methods for comparing keywords in terms of competition are using Youtube auto-complete feature and Google Trends (if the keyword is popular enough). It won't give you any actual numbers, but it can help you choose between a few keywords you are currently exploring.

Can you go deeper into this part "when I started to use my brain"?
I have a couple of channels on youtube with several videos. They all have the same tags, the same kind of thumbnail, etc., however, mysteriously only one video in each channel has managed to position itself on the first page of results, while all the other videos remain in the oblivion of youtube.
I have changed the tags, bought visits in some cases, tried a few things and yet the youtube algorithm still without taking into account my videos and I can't see exactly why?
If you can give some guidance on this, I think many here will appreciate it.
Have been running some tests on this very phenomenon myself, it happens, could be plenty of variables. Could be a trust score that youtube has assigned to your account, or it could just be completely random. I've had one video shoot to number two in search, while a same niche video with the same exact title got burried in search.
From what it seems youtube wants there to be a variety of content on the search result, so you cant just see 10 videos from the same guy on the search page even though the SEO is good. Other factors include watch retention, CTR, etc. Also do your subs watch your content? Try dropping the same video on 3 channels with relatively the same amount of subs. Buy 10 YT accounts and have all 10 accounts interact the same with said 3 videos and come back to us and let us know what happened. You should get the same resluts. If not it could be a trust score issue, or one account just has more active total subs. Gotta test these things man haha

There are many things I've tested, including everything you mention and yet 99% of my videos are in the background for the YT algorithm.
By the way I ask, if anyone knows a realistic method in 2020 that works for ranking videos in YT and wants to share it, it would be great.
PM me I have some methods, but like most on BHW I only share them when some one has something of value to offer, or knowledge to offer first. If you think you have some ideas or methods I may not have heard of hmu and well try to solve your issue

I'm sorry, I don't have any method to offer because I haven't had any success ranking videos on YT. In fact, I am looking for some method that will really work in 2020 to position videos on that platform.

I agree with RoyalCobra, use any of them to optimize your SEO, but doesn't rely on it. for me, youtube is all about clickbaiting through thumbnail or title, and then put decent content in the video. People will click the video, and if your content is interesting enough, they will stay to watch. the other thing like tag, description, video tagging, etc. will just help you little to nothing.
