Tubeautomator + TOR setup?

Hi i have installed tube automator and find proxies to slow so have decided to give tor a shot.

I have installed TOR and as per the tube automator guide set my proxy to 127.0.0.1:8118 (even though in tor settings/advanced it says the control port is 127.0.0.1:9051 ? should i set it to that)

Everything seems to be working, but if i check my IP in firefox via whatsmyip.org it still shows my usual ip?

So how do i know its actually randomly assigning IP's, also does the ip change each time it fetches a new captcha?

Hi mwoody,

First, if you are checking your ip through your browser, you need to have your browser set to localhost and port 8118 to see tor ip's.

Second, if you see the Privoxy blue circle with a white "P" in it on your taskbar turn green when using tubeautomator, then it's working through TOR.

If you can't get TubeAutomator to work with 127.0.0.1:8118, try localhost:8118 Don't worry about the 127.0.0.1:9051 That is a control port for Vidalia to speak to TOR.

right so basically im all set! Does the ip change each time tube automator makes a captcha request etc?
 
Hi mwoody,

Tor changes ip's about every 10 minutes. You can go to the Vidalia control panel and hit "Use a New Identity" to change ip's manually.

Go to proxy-list.org and pick up the realtime list of proxies, add them into tube automator and check if they are live. Once you do that Tube Automator will rotate those proxies automatically, you dont need to do anything extra...
