I knew that, and that's why my strategy on Tumblr is just Churn & Burn... Like a Fast Draw in a Duel... Is short...

The key point here I think is... I'm kind of evolving my code. I have learned a lot, and now I can produce better scripts faster. I've been testing a lot of things during the journey. All those test, are somehow hurting my posting consistence though.

This yesterday I have completely rewritten the poster script (again). Now I don't feel like i want to throw up every time I see the code of the new poster... The code is better organized, easier to read, and understand it much better. But the poster only completed the first batch of accounts... So tonight I "just" made 500 posts instead of 5250 (250 posts x 21 accounts)... I think I forgot notifying the main thread that the worker ended... and therefore, the worker was hanging... Testing this right now... If it work like I expect It should do 4750 or at least.... more than 500.

I still need to reach some stability, in my organization, workflow etc... But I'm taking steps to better it. At least... I like to think is that what I'm doing xD

My SFW scraper just traversed the entire cursor for the site... (that's ~50K images & ~50K videos) now I can reset the cursor so the scraper start again but it will only scrape the newer posts... the ones that are still unique in my database...

The error I mentioned above about the worker... yeah, that was the problem. I forgot to notify the main thread... Now is fixed
It should now fill this of 250's



I hope this thread is useful, for everyone that's thinking about trying tumblr... You can have a better idea now of what it takes...

In fact I was one of them... I have quit Tumblr long time ago, very, very frustrated.
It was different... At that time I was making some money, more consistently.
And seeing how you're losing that... is a shit tbh.

I tried to browse my profiles, and the search results while connected through a VPN to see If I'm being ghosted or smh like this....



And I can still find my posts...

ATM I'm using the same tags that the SFW images had... While those tags are related to the images... Maybe those are not the best tags for Tumblr...
And that means that I'm using a lower number of tags for each post as well...
Tweaks incoming I guess...

I checked that the new URL Redirection that I'm using is still working. But the offers from datify are not the fastest to load sometimes... That's what happens with smartlinks, they need to dedice what to show.
I still want to change the way I add the link. I will probably use cloudflare pages.

What if you would use your accounts to interact with your posts, like view, like, comment. Maybe that would make Tumblr prioritize as they would look like getting attention. Similar tactic as clicking on Google SERP website to improve rank.

Your suggestion totally makes sense
A few days ago... I said in one of my posts that "I had to make my script to work for me, not for the rest". And I meant exactly what you're suggesting now.
When I said that is because I was changing my Liker to like my own accounts.
But ATM the liker operates sequentially... And that's very slow. Imagine... you have 40 accounts... so each of these have to do 1000 likes in the other 39 accounts. This is 39.000 likes.
Yeah of course, I could still like 100 for each account...
And that's the main reason why I focused on making my scripts to work in parallel. I started with the Poster. I basically recreated the entire js project. That made me go slower...
Upgrading my liker to operate in parallel is something I plan to do.

I think I did a great job improving my scripts performance. I mean... Today I made over 5000 posts. The other day I made over 10K posts. I hope I can do the same with the liker.

Because Tumblr essentially have two search feeds (it has more), but essentially are, the "Latest" feed, and the "Top" feed.
Any post will immediately appear in the "Latest" feed... But there you're almost invisible.
The key thing is to receive Notes (Notes is just a fancy word to refer to Replies / Reblogs / Likes)
So... If you post in a high competition tag. You're going to have a hard time to reach the top feed. Because you're going to need a lot of notes.

We also can't forget that I'm doing all this from a single IP... Is absolutely normal that Tumblr is going to mercilessly Ban me....

I've not worked with Tumbler recently. But I remember it was mostly warming up the accounts, some captcha solver like death by aptcha and proxies.

Sure, I could pay upfront for proxies, captcha solvers, or even email accounts.
Then, going less aggressive... warm the accounts, still pray for not being banned.
And if it's stable enough... Then yes, it's is possible to grow the account, engage people through the number of followers... because your posts will be shown to them in their dashboards... They can then visit your link, like, reblog your post and make the ball bigger and bigger.

But is not something I plan to do yet....

Today I considered, using a custom Tumblr theme. I had one custom theme in the past. And this was because it was possible to add links to the images, and making them clickable to your link (using the click-through url). But I found that this is no longer possible. Tumblr was acquired by automattic and they added a new post format called Neue Post Format. And all of the newly created posts follow this new format. Basically with this new format all the posts are text (even the ones with images and other types)... The post is now serialized and rendered from the server using a single tag {body} in your custom theme. The only way would be to use the Tumblr API and create a post with an image and an Attribution Object so it can have a link. But still, is the the server now who decides how it renders.

Well, using proxies is something I can still do in the future paying some $. I don't want to rely on scraped proxies...
But improving my scripts, workflow, my readiness etc is something I can do now for free.
I think is in what I'm gonna focus tonight. I'm gonna create some "shortcuts" that should make my life easier...

In the meanwhile... I'm like getting the taste of it again. Trying to see what's working and what not.
People IRL say I have a lot of Patience...

Hmmm... It's cooking & it's going to take me a while. It's not just the CLI interface... I've been doing some variations of the scripts that work different, with different data sources, different logic... between them... I wanna see If I can come up with a single solution that let me choose between them in an easier way. Both from the usage, and mainetance standpoints.
For that I need to rethink how the scripts work & I'm quite slow when it comes to refactoring... It also involves database work etc...
So expect this thread to be halted for a few days.

Wanted to give you guys a word, or warning you about that.
