Trying to understand proxy!

Hi,

I've read alot of threads about proxy, and im not a tech guru or a computer genius. But i want to understand this terms that you used when you talk about proxy/proxies.


i don't understand this things/words/terms:

VPN
TOR
RDP
VPS

ETC.

ALSO I WANT TO KNOW THEIR IMPORTANCE, I READ SOME OF THEIR DESCRIPTION BUT STILL IM HAVING A HARD TIME UNDERSTAND IT SORRY.

I'M A SLOW PACE LEARNER BUT IM WILLING TO LEARN.

Thank you Meloman. any pointers you can give? for a starter like me what are the things should i know or where should i start? My apologize if i kept on asking. :(

if you want to be anonymous online and don't want that you ISP to see what websites are you visiting then use a VPN.
What kind of online job are you looking to do ? depending on your job i could recommend you something .
 
A proxy mask your real ip address with sites you visit and so forth. A vpn creates a secure tunnel that your isp cannot even
know what you are searching for. The last but not least a vps with remote desktop access simply is another desktop computer you
are using from a remote location.

SPPChristian thanks for the offer. actually im planning to be a some work that black hat do. not totally illegal but i just what to be safe and i want my information be protected from others. for example i want to download some files or software for free or use them again and again. because as i know you can only download them once because they will lock your IP once you download their file or software.

Proxy = used to stay anonymous (on the internet you will appear with a different IP address)
VPN = virtual private network (it's used to make you anonymous on the web)
TOR = it's a network for staying anonymous on the web (it's used for example by people who live in country where there is internet censorship, TOR network can be quite slow)
RDP = remote desktop protocol (this is just a connection protocol...like HTTP ,FTP, SMTP etc..)
VPS = virtual private server (this is your own computer server hosted somewhere..can be accessed by the remote desktop protocol RDP, it's like your own computer, you can install everything you want).
 
literally proxy means representing someone or something.. here proxy is known as an identity.. so that u could be anonymous in internet.

From what I'm reading it sounds to me like you're going to need proxies, not a VPN. A VPN is usually still going to assign you a singular IP. In this case that helps hide your traffic from your ISP as Christian said, but since you're saying you want to be able to download things multiple time it's more likely that proxies will be the way to go. You can get as many as you need or can afford and then scale up from there. So if you want to download that file 100 times then you just get 100 proxies. Depending on how popular and strict the site you're attempting to do this on is, you might need private proxies, more than likely though, you can just use shared proxies. You'll want to look for some strong and fast proxies for downloading stuff though depending on how big the files are. That will keep you anonymous and hidden, along with provide you multiple IPs/proxies to access and download whatever you'd like. Hope it helps and good luck.
 
VPN - Virtual Private Network (It's a network online which accepts connections, therefore when you connect to it, you will firstly request the information there, and the network requests the information from the desired website and then it returns it to the network again and the network to you. Basically it looks like this:
You -> Network -> Website)
TOR - A software for being anonymous on the Internet (although it's not truly anonymous - you can be tracked!)
RDP - Remote Desktop Protocol (A protocol used for remote controlling a computer virtually. Similar to VPS)
VPS - Virtual Private Server (It's a server, which is hosted somewhere in the world and you can control it remotely and virtually, without physical access to the computer!)

I'm new in this kind of field and what to know more.

Keep in mind, not all the proxies are anonymous. Some of them can be detected by the header sent to the website! So, make sure to buy only anonymous ones. And another reminder, do not do anything ILLEGAL, because proxies are the weakest protection online, they are very easily tracked by the company itself as they keep logs of everything you do!

MYnameis940 yes i heard that there are transparent proxy that still show your information or your IP. other advise to purchase a high anonymity proxies and combine it with VPN or VPS or TOR to make your IP or your information protected/undetectable. rather than using free proxy because free proxy are somewhat abused by others and not safe to use. But im trying to start this business without withdrawing any funds from my account. (hehe) hopefully i can learned enough to do tricks and other way to start to do this.
