Trying to start a Amazon Niche site. Have few doubts!!

I've decided to build a Amazon Niche site and the main keyword has about 3400 monthly searches. But the question is there are other niche sites reviewing the same product. Any keyword that I select there is good competition. How do you guys check the competition before starting a niche site ?

3400 searches isn't a lot. You will be lucky if you get a .00002% look to book ratio. {how many people are looking as to how many people are buying} For competetion, you should do a SWOT analysis which might include buying research from a professional company who has the capabilities to mine the data you need or find a new niche that is under served.

Thanks for the reply, how much do you suggest should be the monthly searches ? Also is there a service that would analyse or suggest me good keyword or new niche ?.
