I saw a tool a few weeks back probably while watching a video, but now i cant seem to remember its name or track down the video.

The tool tracked the top 20 or so sites for a specific search term. Each site was given a specific color and plotted on a line graph with SERP position on the Y axis and date on the X axis.

Can anyone give me help refinding it?

There are so many tools available to provide the information which you have seen that video.

If you want same tool means you can get the same result by searching image result in google.

Otherwise SEMRUSH will match your expectation. have a look

Was it web based? If so you might be thinking of Serpwoo? Link: https://www.serpwoo.com/

They have a thread here: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/s...nalysis-can-your-rank-tracker-do-this.737246/

yep that's the general concept of what i was looking for, but it's $50 a month. At that price I'd just program my own... is there anything cheaper?

Sorry, not sure about any other tools that offer it. I'm a Serpwoo subscriber myself so when you mentioned being able to track sites in the organic listings for a keyword and explained the line graph, Serpwoo came to mind. I'm not aware of any others though.
