So basically I had lately some session with my student where I teach him and he said that can't hear me well. So I need to buy a good mic, I will do that but knowing that lap already has a mic I do not know what will happen once I plug in new mic. Is there any way I can shut down the old mic that is in the lap itself? Or what, is there gonna be some problem?

    Please help :)

If you use Windows then you can use Device Manager to disable the integrated mic but before you do that just try plugging in the new mic and testing.
Did the new mic come with software?
    Does it need a driver?

If you get stuck post the model of the laptop and of the new mic.

As Asif Wilson Khan mentioned, you just install the drivers (unless it's plug and play) and you choose what you want to use.
You can have multiple installed devices, but you can only use one at a time.

You can choose the one you want to use by clicking Set Default
