Well, I decided to step back from my businesses and get back to my marketing roots for a bit. I want to try a few new things that I've been contemplating for a while. It helps keep my passion for the marketing world.
A few weeks ago, I was driving to the gym early in the morning. On the way through the parking lot, I noticed a bunch of vehicles loading newspapers into their cars. I really didn't pay much attention at the time, but it caught my attention.
The next morning I was going to the gym again, only this time, about 45 minutes earlier than the day before. I drove through the same parking lot, but slowed down and checked out the 4 pallets of newspapers. There were the pallets of papers, and to my surprise, there were a bunch of advertisements in the waterproof sleeves. From what it looked like, the newspaper delivery people would show up, grab a stack of newspapers, add the advertisements, put the whole package in a weather sleeve, and place it in their car for delivery.
This gave me an idea.
I did my time at the gym, thinking about ways to monopolize off my new discovery.
I got home, hopped on share a sale, looking for a Pay Per Lead campaign that would pay me the most I could but would be in a market that people getting the newspaper would be interested in. I found one that would pay me very, very nicely per lead that would work perfect in my niche. I then went and made a nice half page flyer with photoshop, went to vista print, and ordered 5000 copies.
This morning at 2:30am, I took my flyers and delivered them to the Newspaper pickup site. I put them in a weather sleeve, just like those that are there every day. I sat in my car and stalked the newspaper people to see if they put my ads in the papers. They did.
SO now I wait for those people that received the ads to take action. Do I expect much? Not really. I'm doing this to see how it works using newspaper ads to drive sales for affiliate marketing. Use caution if you try this method... Companies pay good money for those ads in papers. The newspaper company may not be too happy if they found out.
