So, I took first step to online marketing and started building my site, I built it for displaying CPM/CPC ads and not selling services. But my site is stuck on page 2 of Google for low competition keyword for quite long time by now. Here is what I did to rank it to first position:

    1. I did keyword research and found a good keyword having little competition and quite good traffic.
    2. Made a Wordpress site with lots of posts related to niche. (Site was not in top10 pages of google at that time)
    3. Built backlinks manually using Angela Backlinks (Site came to fourth page almost instantly)
    4. Site remain stuck on page 4 for quite long.
    5. Added more content and built direct backlinks to my site like social bookmarking, forum profiles etc using automated tools like SenukeX and WikiRobot. (came to page 2)
    6. Building more direct backlinks to site for long time but its still stuck at page 2.
    7. What am I doing wrong?

I made all backlinks directly to my site, didnt made backlinks to my backlinks. What am I doing wrong? Can someone help me. Thanks :)

I've got some advice for you: just push it.

Don't worry, I'll give you some serious advice in a moment. :)

Edit: Okay, I've got a couple of questions for you:
    1. Are you building high quality backlinks?
    2. Are the backlinks relevant to your website?
    3. How many of the backlinks contain your website name in the anchor text?
    4. Is your website page speed slow or does your website experience frequent down time?
    5. How much traffic does your website receive?

    All this is really important.

I would also try building some social pages for your site, try and get some natural social signals to your articles. You can get some interaction with people this way and show search engines that people like your content.

Its common to see sites in 2nd+ page if the site is new(less than 3 months old).
Seeing from your post i assume you don't have good contextual backlinks. If you don't have contextual links, then build some.
Diversify your anchor text, use brand name, generic, variations of your keyword, long tail keywords.
Build links on your inner pages as well.
Look at backlink profile of top 10 ten sites, copy the same.
^ same way look at their anchor text ratio and copy it.

Many people forget to maintain a good anchor text ratio. Most people just target money keywords, but it's important to have natural-looking anchor text like "yourwebsitename".

Link building which you are doing is out dated, try high pr links, blog posts, try to contact sites in your niche and negotiate a guest post and you'll be on page 1 in no time if you are already page 2.

Yea, my backlinks arent diversified much. Sites above me use link exchange and manual blog posting.

Pretty close to 99% of ALL ranking problems can be solved with links. Specifically higher quality links. The first time you see it happen, it will hit you right between the eyes and you'll never wonder again why you're not ranking.

But all my links are built on Angela Backlinks, they are all high quality and pr5 or higher.

you should focus on getting real social signals by doing it manually. There is a couple of good services that give real signals but you have to search for them. Stuff like addmefast is kinda spammy and only gets you interaction with bots.

When I read "Angela Backlinks" I read "person who has no idea what a backlink is".

I'd be willing to bet $100 that your links aren't "pr5".

Cause you haven't listed any specific metrics about them.

Like... what platform? Are these blog comments? Wikis? Directory? Forum? Articles?

Whats the PA? DA? PR (real PR?) OBL?

Not to mention, pr is a fairly useless metric. The REAL high authority links come from private blog networks. Not these stupid Angela links.

Can you tell me where you're buying your links from? Or where you're building them? Just cause you post an article on a pr5 site does NOT mean you're getting a "pr5" link. You do realize this don't you?

Yes, everything. That's not a pr5 link. That's a prNA profile link. You can build 100,000 links like that manually and still not crack page 1.

And let me explain where things get worse. If you're not able to identify a link for what it really is, then you definitely can't design and execute an effective backlink strategy. Furthermore, you can't properly analyze your competition.

So the way I see it, you probably have 0 idea what it will take to rank for your keyword. And you will continue to build worthless links, not rank, then say SEO doesn't work.

SEO is much more complicated than what you're doing. It's also much more expensive than you probably realize.

I don't know your keyword or your site. But for most keywords, unless you have your own software and fully private blog networks, you're gonna have to spend a good amount of money to rank (you're gonna have to spend $$$ either way but there are ways to reduce costs).

I seriously can't teach a newbie SEO. But you need to get a book on SEO before you do any more link building. Either that, or spend the next 100 hours straight reading about SEO. Because you are not seeing the full picture, you're not even seeing half of the full picture imo. If you want help, you can pm me your site / keywords. But I have limited time. I can't advise you the way you really need to be advised.

If I was you I'd go to the bookstore. Pick up "Outsmarting Google". It's an old, outdated book but a great book that will explain all the mystical intricacies of SEO. Then after that, start reading about "PBN" links. THOSE are what will bring you to the top. But you will need money. AND you can't just throw a bunch at a new site.

The right way is start off slow, as a site ages a few months start hitting it with stronger and stronger links. If your site is done right, if your SEO is done right, the site will rank DEPENDING on the *true* competition of the keyword and how well you adapted your strategy to that keyword. And by starting off "slow" I don't mean doing what you're doing right now. I would not waste a minute creating forum profiles on any site manually. There are much more effective ways to rank a site. 10,000xs more effective than what you're doing right now.
