What is the truth about anchor text post-penguin?

This guy just hacked a few thousand sites and put near all exact anchors in the footer. (view attached image)

I thought anchor spam shit had been killed. But since not, I can't help but ask... what % exact anchors do you use now?

What is the OP trying to say? Keyword spamming? He needs to be more specific.
 
5,000 backlinks, 640 are for their keyword.. ? 4,360 could be generic or long tail?
 
Sounds clear to me, OP is saying someone hacked a bunch of sites and put exact match anchor text and he thought over-optimizing for keywords isn't useful after penguin but the site is ranking. Op, your bill for translating is in the mail heh.

To answer your question, there is no definite answer. I have seen some sites get penalized for this and others that haven't. I still don't take a chance and mix mine up with the naked URL the most common but everyone has their own take on it. It could be that he is just getting a temporary boost until the algo gets another update and he will drop. Or I have seen a competitor do that and his site isn't touched but I would stay away from it personally.

I was essentially asking what anchor text distribution percentages you guys are using now.

Another thread I found searching pointed to 33/33/33 ... etc etc..

I've been staying around only 10% exact anchors between 3-5 main keywords, and to be honest have not seen the results I was hoping for.

I think I may have better results if I push that number up to 20% or so.

Would you all agree?
 
Using a couple hundred variants, I have a site ranking in positions 1, 2 and 3 for its primary keyword. A secondary keyphrase is ranking in positions 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Yup, half the first page is owned by lil ole me on that term and the site is less than a month old. How did it rank so well? It's primary keyword was in EVERY anchor I built. Get creative and you can own the SERPS post Penguin. Wash, rinse, scale and repeat.

An example is the keyword: apple

Apple
apples
Apples
apple pie
Apple Pie
apple sauce
Apple Sauce
apple fritter
Apple Fritter
apple fritters
Apple Fritters
apple seed
Apple Seed

I could keep going, but I'm sure you get my drift. :)
 
If you don't diversify, and Google updates again, targeting over-optimized sites further, you could end up being hit. If it's not a long term website, don't worry about diversity. You can rank well by spamming the same backlink for a little while.

My best performing sites, which have survived Panda, Penguin and manual unnatural link warnings, all heavily utilized the primary keyword(s) in the anchors. However, I'm exceeding 200-300 exact match keyword variants to achieve these results. It works extremely well when combined with good onpage SEO.
 
I have seen many sites where all anchors are 100 % same and ranking top 10 ! But on website they don`t use any anchors - 0 ! I think personally if in your website have anchors DOG TRAINING, then your outside anchors have to be Click Here and etc but if your outside anchors are DOG TRAINING, then on website don`t use same Anchors at all !
 
The hackers always wait for the proper opportunity to do something that will make people to think about it again.
So be secure you need to do this in a securely fashion.
 
I also found it interesting that in this specific example, all of the site's backlinks are all from irrelevant websites.

I guess it just goes to show, you can still rank without "relevant backlinks".

Yes you don`t have to be relevant content on websites. Still it is all about PR, and Anchors. One of website what i analyze it was shows 2 months old and pr 5 already, all back links not relevant www.

It got PR5 because of 301 redirect from old site or link placed in PR6 and higher sites. Still we need to vary anchor to stay away from being penalized

For example,
Cars For Sale x 10000

It would look unnatural.

Google is said to see varied anchor text as more natural.

Examples of anchor text you could use for variety:

Car Website
Good Car Websites

Not sure how I feel about this yet, I think you might dilute your off-page SEO with too much "click here" "learn more" etc. I think it's good to add those in but I think his related keywords are a better option. Seems like it's working for him but I guess only time will tell.

Exactly i reply with the guy and i have tested it on one of my site. I blasted the 400 web 2.0 properties with this type of anchor variation but it didn't worked well..
