Put this code in your .htaccess file and wait for the dns to properly propagate, it seems that this loop is caused in the first hours after changing dns..

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain.com$
    RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/www\.yourdomain\.com\/" [R=301,L]

    change yourdomain

A did as you suggested, immedately after doing this modifications I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when accessing both http://mydomain.com and http://www.mydomain.com.

Is that normal? will that trouble go away when dns is updated?

Was happened the same with me for about 18 hours when i changed the dns of some of my domains to use with 1and1 hosting, they get stuck. I always permanently redirect the non www to www version and when i change the .htaccess it happens this shlt for some time between 3 to 24 hours aprox, depending on the dns propagation, then everything goes to normal
