I have learned a dump load of invaluable IM information after having stumbled upon BHW a little over a year ago ? this site has been a huge boon for my bottom line.

I am now trying to move more heavily into building sites strictly targeted towards Ad sense, and I have had a lot of early success due to my BHW knowledge base.

Although I seem to be doing well within the fights I pick, I am naturally wondering if I could make those battles a tad bit easier from the get go.

I am hoping some of the pro?s loitering around here can weigh in with an opinion as to the appropriate choice to make on some of the painfully difficult domain name options I am now finding myself consistently presented with as I try to expand ? I am always stressing out about choosing the best domain.

So hypothetically let?s say I am targeting the keyword phrase ?This Makes Money? ? and, as would be expected ? the prime exact domain is taken?but I am presented with the following tempting choices:

    • This-makes-money.com (use of dashes)

    • Thismakemoney.com (.com with an incorrect pluralization)

    • Thismakesmoneynow.com (an exact keyword match .com with a short extra word)

    • Thismakesmoney.net (an exact keyword match .net/or .org)

So which one is the winner, which one takes the cake? Assuming all on and off page SEO is done exactly the same and is aimed at, and only at, the singularly targeted key phrase ?this makes money? ? which domain gives me the strongest advantage right out of the gate?

Any opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated ? can anybody rank these in order of strength? Thanks in advance.

Begin a domain seller, if the .com is taken personally im going to choose a different keyword. IF you have funds and the domain is parked asked how much.

If i really love the keyword and the .com is taken then I may look at .tv if the keyword or niche is good on videos. .net is ok and .org is good if more of a social niche.

    1. Thismakesmoney.net (an exact keyword match .net/or .org)
    2. This-makes-money.com (use of dashes)
    3. Thismakemoney.com (.com with an incorrect pluralization)
    4. Thismakesmoneynow.com (an exact keyword match .com with a short extra word)

The difference between 3 and 4 depends on the keywords. Sometimes the single and plural are seen as the same in the eyes of the almighty algorithms. I have had success with one more not on your list: This-makes-money.net. As said above .net and .com are the same, except when you try to sell them to some one else.

I love using dashes if I am only going for search engine traffic. I ranked a domain for my keyword phrase with 5 dashes in it. Of course there is no type in traffic, but lots of search engine traffic.

I would go for the 4th one. As its an exact match. .com, .net, .org are almost in the same category.

    Rank 1. 4th
Rank 2. 1st or 3rd not sure. Have seen both ranking.
Rank 3. 3rd or 1st not sure. Have seen both ranking.
Rank 4. 2nd one (incorrect pluralization)

    Its just my view. :)

Pick the .org/.net or include a letter on your keyword that would not naturally occur.

    I would go for
    Thismakesmoney.net/.org

    .net/.org/.com has same rank.

With this domain you get type traffic and Search Engine traffic.
