Trick to get cheap ssl

This is a trick I found a while ago so I'm not completely sure if it still works but I'm sure it still does.

This is the method I found with godaddy but it can easily be done with other hosts too

Step 1:
Sign up to Godaddy Ultimate Hosting which gives a free SSL (only sign-up for 1 month)

Step 2:
As soon as your SSL is issued then cancel the hosting. They should let you keep the SSL

Step 3 (optional):
Use alpha SSL to switch over your SSL to them for free. This then completely removes godaddy from the equation and then you don't have anything to worry about.

Step 4:
Enjoy your new super cheap SSL!

Like I said before you could just do this with other hosts aswell but I just Happened to use godaddy when I found this.

you dont actually need to host with them you just sign up for the ssl

I have a reseller account with Namecheap so I get mine super cheap as is. I think I pay like $5

Godaddy hosting is not that bad to ditch it so badly. You will have to pay for ip on other site. commodo offers like normal ssl for less than 10$. I will prefer them over GD. Plus first year is free upgrade to SSL, which is awesome..
You can also search for promos time to time

Namecheap is running a great special right now on SSLs. If you buy a domain name, you can add an ssl for $1.95. I bought 5 with my last 5 names. The best deal outside of that I can find is with www.cheapssls.com. This is also owned by namecheap but the best deal on there is about $10 for a Comodo cert.

Thanks for all the additions guys but I've now found this which gives a free 90 day ssl. you can then use the trick and get it for a year.
