I don't know, I mainly use website auditor and rank tracker. Here's what I'm doing with Seo Spyglass:
If I'm checking a competitors backlinks in SEO Spyglass, I've already learned somewhere that they have a bunch of backlinks. I don't have SEMRUSH, Majestic, Ahrefs, Moz accounts yet, (it sucks they're all crippling the free accounts) so I have to get a little kinky with my methods. Trying to scan them in Spyglass gives me a big 0 for backlinks. It is probably the software settings that aren't configured properly.
- Open up the preferences and select the search safety tab. I then uncheck the boxes so that there's not a delay at all.
- User agent tab I leave set to random.
- Proxy rotation, I uncheck so it greys out the whole tab.
- Captcha's I want to be displayed if they are being blocked.
- Under the misc global tab, i check that it is set to 5 tasks at 1 time.
Now when you check a site, it's going to be extremely fast in it's check. Time to search for links.
I select
Rebuild project and pick the search engines of choice. If it's not my site, I make sure that Analytics isn't one of the search engines being checked.
Check the box Show expert options and
hit next. On the
2nd screen where you can choose what info to check
UNCHECK everything. Let's find out if there's a backlink first, then I can spend more time analyzing if necessary. Hit
next. On this screen I
uncheck the two options. I'm not scanning sites that have thousands and thousands of links. If I was, then I would probably leave those checked. Hit next again and now it's going to start running.
Since I disabled the search safeguards by removing the proxies and such, there's a very real possibility that I'm going to get a Captcha. I was able to check 6 or 7 domains before I did. I just filled out the captchas and the jobs finished. Where I hadn't gotten any links before, I now did. Recently I've been doing this unthrottled version to see if it's the software that's retarded or something in the settings. I'm beginning to suspect the settings. Removing the safety settings works in all of the SEO Powersuite and Buzz Bundle, there's a drawback though. You're going to have to enter in a Captcha about every 30 seconds or so, but it's not too bad. Doing like this checked my rank for 2200 keywords in about an hour. Compared to it normally taking 24+ hrs and not finishing.
Also, I think that when you have proxies enabled, Captchas aren't displayed. So you might have burned out all the proxies you're trying to use and it won't tell you that they are toasted. Be sure to remove dead proxies periodically from the Proxy rotator.
