Hey guys! A strange thing happened to me.
I was getting a steady few million views a day from my YouTube Shorts.
Earlier this month I found myself traveling in Turkey, got a local SIM card, and started working from here.

And something strange happened - at one point, the views dropped to 7-10k per hour, and only the rare comments made it clear that my channel started showing ONLY to residents of Turkey.

Instead of the usual worldwide feed, the channel turned into a local feed.
How should I be in this situation? Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
How do I bring back a channel that is targeted to the world?

I don't have the answer but I do curious about your channel.

How did you have a steady millions views from shorts? won't it go down if the 'viral' effects gone? how many shorts have you posted, and how many shorts you upload daily?

I'd really appreciate it if you willing to answer. I'm trying to grow my shorts channel.

Maybe Turkey ISP providers make sure Turkish people only see vids posted inside Turkey hmm.

Try using VPN next time you upload a new vid and report back.

How? He is trying to target worldwide views for his YouTube videos.

I think there is logic in what you are saying.
I started trying to use a VPN and uploaded some videos already with a VPN.
But so far I don't see any effect.
Besides, I understand if it only applies to new videos I uploaded from Turkey.
But it affected all the old videos that were still gaining views before that.

Yes, I target them in English and for all countries.
Then why, when I was in my own country, did the targeting work quietly for the whole world?
And then when I went to Turkey, all this craziness started. YouTube sometimes drives me crazy with its algorithms.

Huh, so sorry, but I'm not in a position to give a rosy answer to your question right now, given everything that's going on. *cry*
Right now I'm in a terrible panic, because one trip can ruin all the activities you've been building for years :(

Then why do it all, and maybe it's better to try another direction?
YouTube shorts still feels raw to me, literally, every little thing knocks you out flat.
A couple of stable months doesn't mean anything, considering how much I suffered before that.

If I were to give advice, it would be one thing: develop full-length videos, not YouTube Shorts.

Think it might be algorithm related. I was also getting 3 mill views/day steady for about 20+ days and suddenly on Oct 5/6th a drop started happening and my new shorts don't do nearly as well. Still in the 1mill range for now but seems like it is dropping daily. Used to be able to post one and get 200-300k views within a few hours and now i'm lucky to get that in a few days and some never get there.

Okay, thank you. Do you think my trip to Turkey is just a coincidence? Maybe it is, but I used to get about 10-15 comments per hour to channel in different languages, now I get 1-2 per day, and they are all in Turkish. Hence I conclude that the channel started targeting from worldwide to local Turkish :(

I think it was a coincidence unless it triggered some type of review on their end but if you have a legit account and passed their early reviews then I think it is a coincidence. Tons of people travel all the time and never have issues with posting videos. You can look in your analytics and see the countries it is coming from. Mine all stayed the same just a big drop in traffic to them all. My drop isn't as large as yours but I'm expecting mine to drop more over the next week.

Get a High-quality 4G Proxy for your account. The proxy's location should be from where you were getting millions of views before. I hope this helps.

If only comments are in Turkish then it is a regional issue because of your travel. If it was a coincidence with travel then comments would have been in different regions.

Yes, the comments are only in Turkish.
This is surprising, I did not think that this should work with YouTube.
I assumed that you can work with YouTube anywhere in the world. Apparently, I was wrong.

Do not worry. I am a Turkish citizen living in Turkey. You can call the elected gentleman as dictator. I do not know if it has something to do with your issue - but there is a big censorship on internet. We can not even used paypal!... There are thousands of them like that. God bless them - they opened Wikipedia with public opposition.

I don't think it is a problem with you visiting in turkey.. I feel like youtube changed something in their algorithm. I was getting around 500k views per day regularly for the past 2 years and all of a sudden my views dropped in a second starting October 5 to 60k a day. @mphilips @halliwax. Seems like I have the same problem as you. Have you found any solution to this? Do you also mind to send me a link to your channel in pm? This happened on both of my channels with similar niche. The second one was getting 250k a day a now its only 25k...

Yes. In time I realized that I was wrong.
It's not about Turkey, it's just a coincidence.
And the first comments only in Turkish after the problem started only confused me.

I realized this from the presence of new comments in different languages, from a survey of my viewers, and from the new YT Analytics Audience statistics. It was surprising to learn how the algorithm destroyed the channel in the blink of an eye (after so stable months).

Well, new challenges are on our way, folks. @mphilips, @frenchie9330

Is your content fully yours/innovative? Im doing more of a repost style videos and what confuses me the most is that only mine channels and the second content creator with similar niche got hit. Rest of the competition didn't had any drops

No, I have channels on different topics - and a pronounced drop on one of them.
I don't know how important it is. Your comment got me thinking.

What category does your channel have, if it's not a secret?
Howto, People, or something else?
