Hey guys,

I'm doing some researches about travel niche. I want to create a website that provides useful guides as well as information in travel niche. That would be a big site with a lot of content and I hope to get traffic organically. Would that still be viable as I understand that travel niche is super difficult.

Thanks guys!

14.8MM USD spent Q3 2016.

Dead sure it's profitable ;)

I am a little bit in travel niche and I can tell you this. Throwing a random blog (with or without a lot of content) wont get you far. You need targeted visitors and you need a lot of them. If you think you can do this go ahead, but if you are not sure how to do this....I dont know. Start something, at least you will learn something if nothing else.
And, of course there is a lto of money in travel niche. Its a huge niche.

Google took over the travel niche in 2005/2006.

In the travel niche, as far as SEO goes, Google is your greatest competitor.

very good niche to be in, i did it and later sold my blog. people always want to find new and interesting places to go to. Lot's of competition? Yes sure but competition is a good thing and must never be shied away from, i say go for it.

Travel was a gold mine until 8 or 10 years ago. Now it's dominated by the big guys and it's really tough to rank on any keyword that they address. At the same time, commissions on most traditional travel programs have been cut. It's a bad combination.

social media can bring good traffic, never be scared of " The Big Guys ", otherwise just about every niche would be a " bad combination ".
You should always diversify your efforts for traffic and not just rely on Google.
There are more ways to make money than travel programs, i was in this niche before i sold my site.
So never be scared to compete, the whole internet is one big competition, you just have to find ways of doing it better and in a more interesting way.
If Mark Zuckerberg had listened to you then there would be no Facebook, as that was not new

Yes, it is still profitable. There are way better niches but why not?

It is difficult for sure but still profitable.

Thanks guys a lot for your helpful opinion. I'm just planning to open an information and sharing-experience type of sites. I know the money is huge in the industry, but there's any more left for small guy to milk from... given that the time and articles cost could be very much.

Is it worth a try, guys? Thank you!

Oh yes, you can use the easybay plugin and add live auctions, easyazon if you are an amazon affiliate, AdSense all sorts.

this sort of question deserves to be asked much less have its own thread?

Why dont you do your research, and determin it on your own if its worth doing or not? Stop asking questions and get in there and try it

otherwise why dont we just create a thread for every single niche possible and ask "hey guys is ____ profitable?"

i mean really

The travel niche is still profitable. It does not mean that now we have very many people in the niche thus can not make the profit. All I do think you need to know at the moment is being able to offer the services that are very unique from what the rest are offering. When you are able to stand out, believe me everything will go on very well and without much hustle. Do more research on this.

Well It depends if you can rank then its for sure profitable. You can partner with some local hotels or agencies and that can surely give you good income.

Thanks guys, I have another question. I'm planning to do the travel site in 2 languages (english and my local language), should I buy 2 domains or I use 1 domain with domain.com and domain.com/language?

Thanks guys.
