Transferring Domains

I have a domain in a FASTHOSTS account that I recently registered. I have bought a re-seller hosting package with HEARTINTERNET and I am unable to transfer the domain since it was registered less than 30 days ago.

Am I able to just point the DNS to HEARTINTERNET and add hosting to it there without transferring the domain? I need to get content on it and don't want to pay FASTHOSTS for hosting when I already have a reseller package elsewhere.

I always do this. It is never a good idea to keep them both at the same place. Changing is much hard when they are together.

I would do it that way as well, transferring domains is a bitch depending on your registrar, once you get the epp code and start the transfer it can take between 30 to 90 days for it to finish. and during that time NO ONE has control of that domain, its basically in a frozen state. One of my clients did this and forgot to update his nameservers to the correct host before he made the switch, his domain was dead for almost 60 days until the switch finished. So yeah I would just point DNS instead of worrying about a transfer.
