Transfering Ownership -- Best Way?

I found a domain name that I want, and the owner is willing to sell it to me for $450.
It's a lot of money to me, and I want to make sure I don't get scammed.
What's the best way to go about it?

I've bought expensive domains before, but through companies that sell domains, not from an individual.

Any ideas/advice/recommendations?

I don't know how it is with domains trading, but when I trade at online grey markets I usually do it with middle man, on a site that provides trader's rating or use trusted payment methods, which allow you to open complaints if you get scammed..

Use Escrow.com it protect you the buyer and the seller as well but it comes at a small fee
