    Hi BHW, noob here.

For the last few days I've been absorbing ridiculous amounts of info from BHW preparing for my first foray into the online goldmine. I must admit I've never been good at tech/IT stuff, I'm more of a man of letters.

Since I am an ESL translator, I've thought about making some use of my skills to 'reboot' a successful site with content written in my L1 as a brand new site in English. I would personally translate most of its content, change the layout, edit some of the articles and put it up to hopefully get some humble amount of $ rolling in.
I know it's a bit of a dick move to steal someone's IP, but they weren't going to monetize it in the english-speaking web regardless. Do you think it would work ? Are there any caveats in my reasoning ? (I know it's probably illegal to do so).

Hi there, you might get into some trouble transcribing something word for word from another language to English. But, what you can do is find a popular foreign website and copy its original design/functionality or niche idea. Find a foreign website that is unique to its language, which offers something that no English site has offered yet, copy its design and idea but transcribe it into English. Example could be a new type of social bookmarking that emerged in a foreign country that is gaining popularity, copy its format in English and profit.
