So what's the truth here? Is TK good private blog network that provides legit backlinks? Or is it a waste of my time/money?

Just depends on what you are looking for. It's a syndication network though, not unique content.

technically speaking, what is the difference between a syndication netword and unique content network?

is it basically: the former accepts spun content, usually of lower quality, whereas the latter only accepts higher quality content?

know of any examples of either?

Syndication takes 1 article and sends it out exactly as it is to other blogs.

I've read a couple good reviews for it, literally a couple and that's all I've heard.
