Traffic increases ranking, anyone else found this?

I have been testing different SEO techniques on a few of my money sites and have tested targeted traffic on one and found that my ranking on many target keywords have increased, this has seen no increase in back links or content.

Just wondering has anyone else found this to help if only a little with SEO?

I will coutinue to test with traffic on this site

I'm guessing this has more to do with trustrank than purely about traffic increases.

I have a project here, 8million paid views per month, 0 links, ranking all over for one of the toughest niche's that exists.

This is possible. User interaction is one factor in trust rank, so adding traffic especially with a reduced bounce rate or users who are staying longer and viewing more pages does help help you increase your trust rank.

I assume the paid views are not bot traffics? So how can you have 8M views per month and 0 backlinks?
That means from 8m people visiting your site no one have shared a link, which is impossible.

I think this may be in the right direction, this traffic has lowered my bounce rate by about 15% user still bounce but it is lower. I have good on site SEO on this site and was ranking for keywords before just noticed a little boost. This would make sense of it.

agree sounds a bit to good to be true, but never say never.. my site does have back links and on site SEO.

One of my friend website with just 1k direct traffic(real traffic) managed to rank to 2nd page without any backlink. No need to be shocked by this we all know that google uses site usage metrics to determine rankings.

I guess the targeted traffic make your website socially active by sharing it to twitter, fb, g+, etc.. and lowered your bounce rate so your site has user interaction + social signals = ranking
