I'm wondering if the traffic from backlinks made with scrapbox, GSA, etc would be of any value aside from hoping to rank in google?

I already have sites that get pretty much all of their traffic from social media and was thinking of adding linking to my sources of traffic if it's worth the cost. I have always avoided SEO and I'm not looking to get into it that deep. So my thinking is if the links themselves will actually bring in enough traffic to make it worth running the tools then I'll give it a shot and if google decides it likes my sites that will just be a bonus.

Most backlinks which generated through both Scrapebox & GSA have almost no traffic. So you only can get benefit of SEO purpose with these backlink kinds for increasing or improving SERP at Google.

Back links built with those tools are very unlikely to give you any actual traffic OP apart from SE spiders etc, so yeah only SEO value..

Links that actually give you visitors will be very high quality links and if you can afford/find ways to get these sort of links then concentrate on that, forgot about the SEO value altogether and just concentrate on getting these sort of "traffic" back links, the SEO value will follow and it'll be 10 fold what your currently seeing because these links are quality - they have to be to actually have readers which click, think about it..

I agree with the above, from my experience automated tools alone gave me no traffic, but the ranking they helped me achieve did :)
With that being said there are ways to get traffic with these tools but they require time and effort, I use to find blogs talking about my niche using auto tools and manually comment on them, these high quality comment gave me some traffic, same goes for forum posts.
