They'll sure try to threaten you to give over the domain, if they find out about it and don't like what you are doing for whatever reason. As to how much legal grounds they have for it, I am not sure, depends on jurisdiction I guess. You being in the right does not protect you from being sued, just as getting sued does not automatically mean you did something wrong.
