Hey Guys,

I have purchased a few expired/Trademarked Domains in the past.
I Was a typical IM noob, Thought they had value due to the Search volumes per month ext.
Is there any black hat methods for monetizing trademarked domains, Like redirects or spam links as there worth nothing to me.

Some domains include.

Google.org.au
daftpunk.net
spotify.me
nike-sb.com
yahoo7.net
mercedes-amg.net

Most have over 200k + searches a month.

Any ideas guys ?

You can try to sell them to the right buyers but most of the time it will be hard. I have done this before in the past with good results however I would not recommend it.

Im going to hijack this thread.

With the new TLD's started of January 20th it's possible to have very specific domainnames, for example linked to cities of a country (in my case).

I'm thinking of buying some domainnames that are related to cardealers, clothing shops, travel agencies etc in that specific city. Although I'm not sure if it's allowed because I've read that there were 4 rounds in which trademark holders could 'reserve' their domainname to avoid cybersquatting. My idea is to register some and then contact the companies with an offer to buy the specific domainname and point out the benefits for them.

e.g. abercrombie.toronto - tesla.toronto - taxi.toronto etc (just an example not a real case)

I'm concerned that I will get a notice from my registrar to give back the specific domainname to the company when they file a complaint instead of them just buying it from me for a higher price.

Any info on this?

any trademarked domain can result in a very expansive law suit

mercedes-amg.net you can write your personal blog about mercesdes amg, models, your thoughts, open mercedes-amg forum, just write in footer that this is unofficial blog about mercedes amg...

and what about mercedes-benz.toronto with blanco page and no ads? So there is no commercial intent (visually).

Thanks for this!

If i understand it right it is still allowed/on the edge of legal if you do not put anything on the website (blanco page, not even ads) and it is not a domain name that is confusing or puts the company in a bad light?

if you register nike-forum.com, it is a trademarked, but if you create a forum and talk about various nike products, it is unlikely nike will sue you for it. but if you talk trash about the brand, thats another story.

if you register nike.fr,nike.org, etc... they would probably sue you for it.

now, with those new tlds, .rock,.email, etc.... i guess if its important to them they would sue you aswell
