Tracking Number Required eBay DropShipping??

Hello,

So I am brand new to the DS world, and fairly new to eBay as well. Today (I'm in the first week of DSing/using eBay), a user purchased a few of my products (they were listed at $400, and he offered $470 for all 5) - which originally sent up a red flag.

Then after carrying through, a tracking number was required before receiving payment. This is not normal is it? Would that not erase the purpose of DSing? Was I dealing with a scam buyer, or did I set something up wrong that required shipping ID first?

Buyer from Nigeria (Idk if that matters, but I have seen a lot of scammers from Africa)
Buyer offered to pay 350$ ABOVE my asking price.... would've been a good turn out

When it comes to drop shipping never send out a product with out first having received payment. Also if your new to drop shipping i would suggest sticking to only the us. There are a lot of scams out there.

Thanks I only ship to US, and have that listed. I believe what I encountered was a scammer.

My main question now though is WHY DID I NEED TO CONFIRM SHIPPING/TRACKING NUMBER BEFORE RECEIVING PAYMENT?

Is the whole point not to:
1.) Sell
2.) Receive payment
3.) Use buyers money to order off Amazon
4.) Keep profit

Or was this issue apart of the scam? I'm fairly new to eBay, new to DS, and definitely new to scam artist buyers.
 
How old is your eBay and paypal accounts if they are both new then ebay will put a hold on your money till 3 days after it arrives. They track it by the tracking number in this case it's not a scam. But if the buyer is saying there not going to pay u till u send them the tracking number directly then scam alert.

My PP is about 3 years old. My eBay account may be brand new (now that I think about it I may have just made it...)

Will the pre-tracking requirement end after it's aged a month? Or should I just purchase an aged account (will I be able to use aged account with my personal info since it will conflict with current account)? I do not have the funds to pre=pay myself or any household items to sell....

Nvm, I've been a member since March 2016. I have pretty good listing at 500/25k$ (which is high right?) I've never sold though so will I still have the hold??
 
Do not ship it is 100% scam, i sell refurbished cell phone and i get these offers daily.
Ship only after you receive payment.
 
your in what they call paypal jail its when you make a new ebay you have to meat a few requirements.
1. account needs to be 90 days old
2. have sold 25 items
3. have sold 250$ worth of items.
if you can get an aged one i would go for it but make sure they have already met all the requirements

I read having a PayPal Premier or Business account will allow you to receive immediate payment, is this true?
 
No but it's not paypal that's holding your money it's ebay. A paypal hold is different and they will only do it once after the eBay hold are done. If u look in ebay after you make a sell there will be a date under the listing That will tell u when the funds will be sent to paypal.

All mentioned condition are of eBay not Paypal. If there are any limits to your account then you will have problem while listing not after its listed.
Once products are listed you can receive payment without any problem as long as your paypal account is not limited.

You said your paypal account is 3 years old then you don't have to worry about anything

Worst thing that can happen to you is that after receiving payment paypal will hold your funds for 3, 7 or 21 days but you can reduce that time limit by providing tracking information. If you have recent transaction history then you will not get any holds.

Regarding sending shipping details before payment, neither Paypal nor eBay will ask you to do that.

After few hours seller get email from paypal or ebay to provide shipping info to getting paid. (This is scam page designed by scammer to look like eBay and Paypal so it looks legitimate which ask seller fulfill the order and provide tracking id).

Best way to identify scammer is to check the header of email it will be like ebaycustomerservice@somedomaindotcom or paypalcustomercare@somedomain

After shipping item you will get another mail stating that you have been paid and due to some reason it will take 3 days to show in your account ( This email is to buy time so that seller does not cancel shipping while he can & and 3 to 5 days are enough to deliver express package to any part of the world).

Finally scammer enjoy free product and seller fights with ebay or paypal customer care.

BRO!! Thank you so much for explaining this to me. I guess I should've been more cautious, as I didn't even notice the phony e-mail!!! (which it was, looking at it now).

Whew, saved me some heartache, and really have me looking out now. So regardless, after purchase, I should receive funds and be able to use to purchase off Amazon with buyer's money, correct?

Yes, PP is 3 years old, have received and sent payments from it. eBay is newer (4 months old though). Sorry like I said I'm pretty much new to selling off eBay, let alone DSing

Thanks, man. Like I said in above post, being very cautious now. I have my listings as US only (I think Prime is US only anyway isn't it?). I did not know they were Nigerian buyer until after I "received payment", and they told me they were. (My product only ships US, so I had to cancel regardless.)

I am glad i was able to help.

I don't think you will have any problem receiving payment if you have recent transaction history.

But if your Payment get held for 21 days after receiving payment just ship the item and add tracking id in your paypal account this should reduce your hold to 7 days.

Payment Hold is one or two time thing to avoid fraud.

After your hold period is over you will have strong account which you can receive and withdraw payments without any problems.


Note:
If you have recent transaction of $10 to $50 and not more than $100, receiving $500 or $1000 will get your account hold
 
Almost anything mentioning Nigeria anywhere is 99% chance to be a scammer, so why the hell do they even tell you they are from Nigeria?

Anyway, once you have a tracking number and you've sent him the tracking number that means he knows the goods are out of your hands and on the way to him. Then all he has to do is not pay you and enjoy his goods. That's their classic MO. Never ever ever ever ever ever send them an item without having confirmed payment.
