tracking my backlinks

I'm using a plugin that is supposed to submit rss feeds to a bunch of aggregators every time a new post is published but I'm having a hard time tracking it to see if it's actually working. Theres a log there and it's saying 'Success' under most of the submissions. When I use a backlink checker like serps or just do the link:[domain] shouldn't I be able to see all the backlinks it's creating or does it take a few days?
