I stepped away from SEO after panda (penguin? I forget which is which now) penalized us heavily in 2012. Recently been investing in SEO again, but a big problem is tracking keywords' actual value.

As you may know, anybody logged into a gmail account is searching over SSL and doesn't pass their keyword along. For us at least, thats like 99% of traffic. I know you can connect "Search Console" f/k/a WMT to your analytics account and get some insight into keyword volumes from those SSL searchers. However there is no way that I see to track actual conversion and see which keywords are performing and how well they're performing. This is especially a big problem with an ecommerce site where a lot of traffic is coming to the brand name, and common sense says those brand searches are converting much higher rate. Seems senseless to spend $20,000 on SEO, see that google traffic is generating $xx,xxx but I have no idea if 90% or 10% is coming from the brand searchers!

Any solutions to this?
