Trackbacks any good?

Hi,

I created around 1200 trackbacks using Scrapebox, but I didn't really see any effect from it. Did I do something wrong or are they simply really, really low quality links?

comments are way better, but as for everything you need to ping and bookmark those trackbacks so google finds them.

Short answer. No.
It's better to focus your time and link building efforts elsewhere.

Have to ping them after? Ping the post where the comment is?

But doesn't wordpress checks if the trackback post content really exists? on the site who sends a trackback request? Because I used an autoblog which did trackbacks to the posts I used, and it worked really well.
