Town square Media SEO Services, "PowerListing" etc. etc.

So, I'm a newbie that has never followed anything all the way through to be a master of anything. I was always the techie guy that got saddled with maintaining or building the company website at the various small business I've worked for, and started a business myself and built the website as the main form of advertising. Things started getting much more competitive in my marketplace and I was having a harder and harder time ranking my site and it was cutting into my bottom line. I purchased random piles of backlinks and specials off the forum, and as a desperation move hired "Yodle" to get me leads. A few months into it I realized Yodle was trying to de-index my well performing site to replace it with theirs and I hired town square media to fix it because I was too busy with the business I was getting from the backlinks I purchased. My rep at town square media is a nice guy, but I get the feeling that I'm getting $40 worth of SEO for $200 a month. The only thing he is doing that I cannot do myself now is "Powerlisting" my business.

What is powerlisting and can I do that directly myself? How do I access this service? From what I understand it is just a way to keep the directory listings organized and updated. Useful, but probably not worth $200 a month. For $200 a month I could build a PBN that would rank me nationally. I would just need to sit down, actually read through the training modules I have and do the work step by step.

First, Yodle is like AngiesList, they survive by sucking in new people with enticing ad copy. I have yet to see anything Yodle does other than simply placing your ads on Google and Facebook and "hoping" that you get leads and conversions. It's overpriced with lowest quality possible. I search Yodle complaints and wham, all I need to know about the company. Focuses on reselling BHW and WF link building services, while pumping Facebook and Adwords campaigns for you. Then the mark up for those clowns comes into play so your budget dries up quickly with no results.

So as for your question, focus on finding a quality seo service here on BHW. Avoid threads with tons of new accounts posting only positive reviews as that is a sign that the seller is a cheater and of low quality. Second you'll need to do some research and trial and error testing. Research converting Ad copy in your niche and start analyzing it for the key emotions used to create a sale. You'll find then move on to using Adwords and Facebook to test out your new landing pages. In total expect to lose a lot to find a profitable campaign.

Ditch the losers and start working for yourself. Companies prey on small businesses and laziness in order to make profits, and these make people like me look bad. I do what they do but I actually deliver what I promise to my clients. I don't even make anything nearly as much as they do while I provide more effective conversions by working my brain in complete overdrive. I want you to do the same; research, test, analyze, repeat. As for where to start, read this forum and then start applying what you learn to test and see if you can make it work for you. Fail 10000x and you'll suceed on the 10001x.

Yes, you can do the powerlisting by your own only after know how it works. Keep learning more about wikia & stay updated with the latest approaches.

I googled "Powerlisting" and came up with Yext and Vendasta. Vendasta seems to be a more affordable more robust service but that is according to them. Any idea on where to turn would be great.

also, I have a unique problem. My number belonged to a company that went out of business in 2008. Another company started with a similar name to that company in 2014. My phone number got listed as the defunct company from 2008 on every stupid cheap business listing site. I get calls all day long from telemarketers wanting to improve the web presence for the business that went out of business in 2008. Every month it gets worse and I find more listings.

Hope, Vendesta is designed only for small businesses. I didn't experienced with that yet, better give it a try if you can afford.
