Hey guys,

One of my businesses is linked to tourism. Because of the war in the middle east I paused all paid ads since 4 weeks or so, otherwise I would loose money or just break even. I'm curious how that war has affected tourism numbers in different countries. Maybe some of you guys have a business related to tourism and can share how much tourism has decreased over the last few weeks (roughly).

I don't have a tourism business website or anything. But my art portal website got hit about the same time, and now you mention it, obviously for the same reason. We need blogs about defense companies now instead! lol

Yeah so annoying, can't everyone just get along? Also need to think twice now if I want to drive somewhere because gasoline is more expensive than blood

Doesn't know how humans are going to survive. There was a time we wondered how humans are evolving how we are developed. Now in war taught us like why god made humans?
What are you talking about?

I wish saying " SORRY" could end this. I would gladly step forward and say it on behalf of all.
Let PEACE!

Yeah unfortunately it doesn't work like that. But hats off to you for thinking like that!

yes its effected, even though every market is disturbed, but this shall too pass

Unsurprisingly, tourism is directly and usually first to be affected by geopolitics.
Not like people stop travelling, usually they just change destinations. If places on or around conflict zones sees a decline, then safer or more "neutral" destinations become more desirable and there's no shortage of those.
So I wouldn't say tourism is down everywhere necessarily, it wasn't like the global pandemic or anything. It's more like the traffic is being redistributed elsewhere.

As some may know, I run a company for the last 10 years which is diretly related with tourism.

A couple industry insights:
- People are not travelling less
- People are decreasing the stay lenght due to price increases and inflation
- Plane tickets are rising, being a disincentivize for travel
- Cleaning tax at "Airbnbs" is increazing due to inflation, brent value and other factors, being a disincentivize for reservations
- People are spending less at restaurant and local economy, eating more at home and spending on other commodities
- People are driving less around because uber's and taxis services got more expensive and quality did decrased due to more immigrants be working on those services, many times don't speak the local language or not even english, which obviously decreased the service quality and industry trust factor (I explained this to not be reported for racism or whatever, it's not the case)

This list goes on and on, the market is changing and the ones to adapt will survive.

That war affected almost all the world - oil prices, recession, markets.
wars are fought between soldiers, slaughtering civilians is genocide.

And yes, this terrorism had affected (or will start affecting soon) us all, its impact is being / will be felt worldwide :(

If you're breaking even, why would you pause? Doesn't that get you a bigger audience, email lists, etc, for the future?
I still have organic traffic. It's easy to loose money in that niche with Google ads, so not worth it.

I don't think the market will change long term. Look at COVID , everything is back to normal.

yeah conversions for anything remotely close to the mediterranean or middle east have completely tanked over the last month. people are just way too spooked to book international flights right now so pausing your ads was definitely the right call, most guys i know in the travel niche are either pivoting to domestic offers or just waiting it out until things cool down.
