Saw someone try to add my real facebook profile today. Pretty interesting tactic here. Not sure exactly what they are doing but its pretty interesting to say the least.
here is the story:
Basically, someone tried to add me today and I could clearly tell it was a fake profile because they had a picture of me in one of the photos with a person I never had taken a photo with. Mind you, I don't even know this person but they work at the same general location as me. They had lots of photos but most were pretty crappy photoshopped. Clearly I did not add this person HOWEVER, I noticed that well over 50 of my friends had added this person. What a bunch of dumbasses to not take 2 seconds to checkover who this person is. They just add her. On the profile's wall it says that she recently joined facebook from myspace. Now she is going around trying to add as many people as possible. She is also complaining about how facebook is limiting how many people she can add.
Of course the real thing I am interested in here is the tactic being used. Basically the person is creating fake profiles and putting real (ie. accurate) info of the person in them with photoshopped photos of the real person . Probably using myspace information to get the initial photos of the person and creating a profile on facebook. Her attempt was poorly done but just imagine if you shopped those photos very good. You could start adding tons of people and then start adding people based off of mutual friends.
another possible tactic is to copy someone else's facebook page and then go and add all their friends using a new profile. Tell people that the real profile of the person was hacked and to remove that profile. I wonder how much that would work. These people on facebook don't seem like the sharpest tools in the shed.
Idiots will just add you and once they do you can rip all their photos and all their wall posts + comments plus everything else on their profile to your hard drive
