Total noob needs help with blog

Hi guys! About a month ago I launched my first ever blog, smartreport.tech. I decided to go with WordPress and self hosted it on an azure vm as I'm a developer. It seems to be okay, but I'm getting like 17 views this month, and 9 seconds of engagement. I had bought an expired domain too, so maybe that has something to do with it. I don't know much about keywords and stuff, I just wanted to start a science related blog. The blog is 90% written by ai with me editing it. I'd appreciate it if someone could help me see what I'm doing wrong. The site is: smartreport.tech.

A month is nothing in SEO terms. It usually takes 3 - 6 moths to see real traction.

Now on to your site...

  • 99% of the links pointing to your expired domain are low quality forum links built with a tool like Xrumer. (Spam links)
  • A lot of the links also have foreign language anchor text. (Not good)
  • Your semi targeting YMYL, which is difficult for new sites to rank in, even with great content. (Your money or your life)
  • Your content lacks clear paragraphs. (No white space to break up lines)
  • You need much more content on-site. (Looks like you only have 6 posts)
That's just for starters...

Keyword research and a clear content plan would do wonders. Research how to find easy to rank keywords, get much better at using AI to create content, and I'd recommend avoiding YMYL niches, and target tech, as your TLD suggests.

PS: Remove your sites URL from the thread. Not wise to share it in the open.

Good ideas. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. I was thinking of starting over with a new domain and clean slate. I want to do something remotely related to science, can be a specific niche. I'd truly appreciate it if you could help me with the domain and guide me on how to move forward with a proper plan (I will do the work, its just i have no idea on how to go about it). I'm a student so I don't have too much of a budget rn, hoping to make some money off this site and be able to fully fund it. Thanks!
 
Mentoring is against this forums rules. However, break the process down in to easier to digest sections, and ask the community how to proceed.

Find low comp niche, buy clean domain (.com if possible), learn keyword research, map 50 - 100 posts, produce quality content...

That's enough to get you started. I'm sure others will chime in.

My bad, didn't know it was against the rules. I'm totally lost, do you mind pointing me in the direction of posts or any other helpful content that can be applied to my situation. That isn't mentorship as I'm not taking advice from you directly. Once again, I truly apologize, I actually didn't know it was against the rules, I can assure you it won't happen again.

I bought an expired domain to help with backlinks but it turns out most are low quality. Maybe that's why I'm getting like under 1 visitor per day?

Updated previous post to help get you started with research.

How to do niche research? Is your first question. Loads of low comp ones in the science niche.
 
Thanks man. Unfortunately I don't have the tools at the moment ane can't afford them to conduct proper research right now. Do you know any reputable free sites or any work arounds. Also when you say keyword, does it stay constant for the whole blog? Like say my domain was brandcameraxy.com, would I only post posts about the brand camera xy (fake camera, for illustration purposes) and not about anything else like other cameras or other cameras from the same brand?

Keyword research doesn't require expensive tools, and can be done for free.

Your example brandcameraxy.com...

No, you don't have write content in such a restricted manner. Some posts would be on that main subject, but then you can expand to new "categories" like photography techniques, lighting, lenses, accessories, history, landscape, portrait, nighttime, exposure...

Depends... Niche research is different to post keyword research. I've written a guide on the later, but you need to pick a niche first.

Science is a broad topic, narrow it down to a "sub niche" like Physics, then narrow that down even further to something like Acoustics.

The niche should be big enough to write a few hundred post on, but small enough to have little competition. ie; Infrasounds (a sub niche of Acoustics). Then break it down more on-site... generator, detector, weapon, app, diy...

Thanks for all that info, it really helps. I am confused as to how I can tell if a niche is good or not because I don't know If it has good search volume (how many people search for it) or low competition. I want to go into biology.

Try keywordseverywhere dot org. It's a free tool. One keyword at a time, but better than having no tool at all.

@dandan594594 is helping really well. You can also start a journey thread and ask help from the community. People here are really proactive in helping. Take some time to read through the older threads to get more knowledge for free.

Ahh yes a journey thread. I always thought it was for people who had experience/knowledge. I'll be researching today and start my new blog tomorrow with the intent to monetize it somehow (hard to do affiliate with science). Just wanna see that it's possible to monetize a blog.
 
Keep posting high quality content, build more backlinks, and give it some time to get traffic.

How important are backlinks? And how can I build high quality ones (apparently my current site had low quality ones).

No, it is not for experienced people ONLY. You can title it as a 'Noobs Journey to Success with Blogging - Need Your Suggestions'. Whenever you face any difficulty you can ask in that thread and people will help you move forward.
