Hey guys, so I registered a new site and want to promote it with Google Ads (partly for experiment, partly because I also have a voucher).

The problem is, I go through the process and can't find the function to set your budget. In the end I chicken out because I don't want it to go by click and then rack me up a huge bill, can someone show me where to look?

    Thanks

Ad-words is a waste of money. Ad-words, particularly for local business, is the exact opposite of Local SEO. You do Local SEO as a "fire & forget", "one and done" type of effort. Ad-words is like going crack, or heroin. Sure it might work for a short time, but then you are right back where you started, only you haven't got your money anymore. It is irresponsible for anyone on this forum to advocate that a small business that has not done substantial Local SEO pay any money at all for ad-words. Better you should take up heroin, or meth.

Good point, but I believe the OP is experimenting for now. Probably better to do on his own account than on a client's.

I disagree. Local SEO is generally very easy, but Adwords or PPC get you fast, almost instant results in many cases. If you have the budget you should do Adwords and local SEO at the same time. He's also using a coupon so his loss might be $25 on a $100 experimental spend.

The biggest companies use a combination of both SEO and PPC. They're doing it for a reason. Because it works.

I do believe local SEO is more important to do because it pays off in the long term and is usually easy, but PPC is instant gratification and for some clients that's what you need to do.

I believe you have to add a valid CC to their file, there is an authorization charge of 2$.
