torrent site to replace demonoid?

Sedo has blocked the sale of the Demonoid domains now

http://torrentfreak.com/demonoid-domain-sale-banned-over-legal-concerns-120818/

What's next?

Alright, so I read the article and I still don't get it. Who & what is "Sedo" and who are they to block the sale of a domain? Are they a registrar? (Still a noob in some ways...)

Why would they care if the domain got sold? What business is it of theirs? Does this mean "just anyone" can file some kind of document challenging the sale of a domain? Who can block the sale, and what does it take?

What happens if it's sold anyways? If it's copyright infringement, what does that have to do with who owns the domain today, when the "violations" happened months, years prior?

The whole thing makes very little sense to me. Can someone post and give a noob a lesson in Domaining 101?

I've been a user at both Demonoid and IPT and i have to say IPT blows demonoid with how quickly stuff is shared.

Files are shared much much faster than public trackers and a bit faster than demonoid.
I recently got into IPT and will post when i get an invitation that i can use.

People don't use demonoid for it's speed or pretime. It's for the huge amount of files, especially the older obscure ones.
Same reason many are using IPT now.

In terms of speed and pre there are dozens of trackers that blow IPT out of the water. That's why demonoid and megashare are such huge lost.

With the closure of demonoid and megashare lots of files are lost forever. For example megashare had about 30ish of the best classic football matches from the 60's to 90's that is no longer available now, at least not to the average joe.

I'm just guessing here.

They can only block it since it's listed on their site and not because they're a registrar or anything.

If they list it to sell on your site you can block it too. And Sedo has been known to delist/block domains that infringes on copyright/trademark etc such as nike-airmax-cheapz365x.com.

What happens if it's sold anyways? If it's copyright infringement, what does that have to do with who owns the domain today, when the "violations" happened months, years prior?

Again I'm only guessing here.

To protect themselves and/or their users? With the example above possibly Nike can sue them for infringement or facilitating something that infringes on their protected property?

For demonoid's domains it could be that they are under investigations and the authorities has possibly already applied to seize it so even if you buy it now it could be taken away from you later.

I would recommend not handing out IPT invites like candy, or to new users. At any time, if anyone in the invite tree is banned the entire tree is. So if someone invited you, and their invitees invitees invitee gets banned, you get banned.

That ban tree is harsh.

I'm one of the lost souls that used demonoid like crazy. I had a little more than 3tb down and up. Will keep my fingers crossed it rolls out 6 months down the road as something else. With it and mega gone, it seems to forebode troubled times ahead.

I've got a membership to ipt, and a few other privates that I use for movies and such. But I seem to be lacking a solid ebook source that had the same clout as demonoid.

Anyone have an recommendations?

Did you try kickass torrents, or thepiratebay (i guess you did, but one never knows for sure :))

3TB? In the words of Bill Clinton, "I feel your pain Senator." :p
I remember when 1TB sounded unimaginable! I got rid of most of it though. Only kept what I need.

Your best bet is private torrents:
