Hey guys,

I was just reading a random post and someone was giving suggestions for proxies. One of the services he listed was TOR. I dont know if people know this or not, but the TOR network isnt safe. Dont use it as a proxy for doing your surfing or blackhatting.

Here is a link to the warning on DCS Proxy Forum.

I dont think forum members that are new to proxies are aware of all the issues surrounding proxies and finding legitimate ones. This post points to just one of many.

Be careful!

a) any proxy has the same issue, the server and sometimes the whole LAN at the server can sniff the data. Use SSL and you are safe from that, MIM attacks can be detected as the certificate is not valid.

b) it is true, everyone can run a tor exit node but not all nodes are part of the exit node directory. it has quality rules and can kick out bad ones.

TOR is safe if it comes to 'anonimity' if used correctly. Tor isnt safe, all data on the other end can be read, (ssl only with man in the middle attacks), but who cares about the login details of some youtube acc with 100vids.

The point is that the data transmitted is NOT SAFE, your privacy is (disable all java, flash crap also ofcourse and configure your browser to prevent dns leaks)!

Please tell me how to configure browser so that dns can't be licked.
