Tor Browser online anonymity. Could be useful!

I thought some of you may find this useful.

Tor is a system intended to enable online anonymity. Tor client software directs internet traffic through a worldwide volunteer network of servers to conceal a user's location or usage from anyone conducting network surveillance or traffic analysis. Using Tor makes it more difficult to trace Internet activity, including "visits to Web sites, online posts, instant messages and other communication forms", back to the user and is intended to protect users' personal privacy, freedom, and ability to conduct confidential business by keeping their internet activities from being monitored.

Yes I know there are other ways to do this and better ways, you can discuss them below.

TOR is useless, too slow to surf the web + it's not giving anonymity these days. Even well configured, TOR is just a part of what you want to do to get anonymity.

Most people don't use it right. By having Javascript enabled .etc you're leaving yourself open. It's hard to surf with it and stay totally anonymous.

Being anonymous is a complex process. You really need to think like an investigator to be able to accomplish it. Think VPS bought with a VCC you bought from somewhere that takes your ID as your phone number, and you bought the SIM card and activated that from a Pay Phone, then access the VPS via Proxies you paid for with a different VCC. That's just the start of it.

It really depends what you're up to though. How much effort is your freedom worth to you though?

Your example did not have anything to do with TOR. Its free, so no "payed" footprint.
Javascript within a browser (TOR browser) uses the same connection as the browser itself.
Even when using proxies and proper browser (not IE) you are still safe.
You loose your anonymity only when you use something that is attached to you. For example you login to some account of yours(stupid example FB).

So, I would be interested in that information how TOR is not anonymous too.

TOR is anonymous. People just don't use it right.
Hooking a vanilla install of firefox, chrome, opera or anything is not safe at all. You got crash reporting that takes your real IP. Allowing PDFs or Java can reveal your real IP. Certain core settings (that can be changed in about:config for firefox for example) need to be changed to prevent leaking by DNS, auto-complete, anti-malware and other settings.

However, TOR is also useless due to the fact a site can ban all endpoints. Plus the slow speed of TOR... Not very practical for anything other than doing something illegal. Better to just use a VPN bought using BC or anonymous accounts, that'll give you speed and enough anonymity short of illegal stuff.
