Topify review

Topify + BHW = GENIUS! Love it, though now the little free time I had away from the computer, is gone for good...

I still get the odd connection error, not very frequently. I had problems last night (23:54 GMT - I took a screenshot) and after a few tries (closing the error and trying again - different sections etc) I gave up and when I went back to it around 30 minutes later it worked fine.

It's not really a major problem as like I said it happens infrequently, but I thought I'd let you know.
 
Some things I reflected over when browsing the forums and only see some snippet of the threads - Remove urls!
If a thread starts with "Hey guys
cool.gif
...."
the preview would be "Hey guys https://content.blackhat-static.com/blackhat-seo/images/smilies/new/cool.gif...."
The same goes for shortcodes. Also It's kind of confusing when showing "posts", moste common is to show replies (thread start/OP dosent count).
Mabye it's just me, but if there is 1 post, there is 1 reply/answer beside of the original post.
And ofcurse, get a dark/night theme.

I didn't use Topify the last few weeks (even months?). Installed it at the beginning and deleted it again... At the beginning, it was horrible.. sorry to say that.
I really preferred to browse the site in the browser (which is really a pain in the ass..) than using Topify.
But now I gave it another chance, there are a few things really pissing me of on my Galaxy S4:

  • I always have to log in... always... always... really, always! I am logged in, want to open something and there is a message box telling me, I am logged off.
  • Notifications don't work for me. I have a notification for a PM. Open it. Notification disappears. When I log in to BHW Website, I now have notifications telling me I have unread PMs.. and I fu.. don't get rid of them.. :D
  • the layout (design) of the header bar crashes all few clicks
  • also the layout of the settings get smashed up
  • it seems a bit slow


It is a good thing to try to build a new app to read forums! But hey, this is beta version (and that's fine, as a developer I have no problem with that!), but while publishing a beta version, you really should let users use Tapatalk until you got a first final release of Topify.
I mean, this is a great community and I would say the owners of the forum earn a lot of money with that forum, so why not make users happy? I can't even read my sales thread or answer pms without getting angry and being pissed off.
Please activate Tapatalk for another month, until Topify has a real final release. I really don't matter using Topify, but I want a working solution, where I don't always have to log in, etc..

If you need further information for my errors, just shoot me pm, I am glad to help. Also if you need development help or tips.. I might be able to help.

I had to delete topify and reduce dramatically my monitoring of my threads because of that..
I deactivated notifications but they kept coming(new threads because I was monitoring the section) and made my phone kept vibrating for no reason..
I also really don't like that monitored threads are in the same section with the monitored sections...When I check the forum I prefer to see my threads and then go to this sections to check if there is anything decent I missed...

I would be happy to help you out with the push notifications. What device and software are you using?

You can also send me an email at support @ topify .com so I can open a ticket with the developers and get this fixed for you.

It definitely doesn't run as smoothly as Tapatalk did. It's a little laggy but I'm getting used to it. The major annoyance is after viewing a thread you must scroll through the page again to find where you left off. It doesn't remember your spot like Tapatalk and web browsers do. I'm using an iPhone 4.

when I get notified in Topify about a PM and read that PM, in BHW it still shows notifications.. And I don't get rid of them, unless I delete all of my PMs.. I've reported this before and it's very annoying, please fix that.

Man who ever a complaining must have a real sheit phone. This app is great and really smooth on my glaxy nexus

We currently do not use these features, our goal is to implement them in the future to make our app more interactive with other users. But, at the current moment, they aren't implemented in any way

Let me know if you have any other questions.

You guys probably already know but Topify isn't working right now. If I remember right it says, "Not Connected" on my iPhone. It probably has to do with the mess going on right now with BHW but I just thought I'd let you know.
