For a brand-new website in 2025, would you focus first on building topical authority with content clusters, or start pushing backlinks early?
Which approach has given you faster or more stable results recently?

I’d focus on covering one topic really well with content first, then add backlinks later once the site has some trust.

Imo, topical authority first.

Build solid content clusters so Google understands the site.

Then add a few quality backlinks later for lift and stability.

For a new website, you definitely need to focus on developing high-quality content first. Backlinks should only be applied after a certain period of time, once the content is complete and stable.
 
Focus on getting Topical authority First. Get backlinks from basic sites such as social media, reddit, forums related to your niche etc.
 
What about tier 1 backlinks with topical authority? What if a cluster of articles of a topic were backlinks too? They are a cluster on different sites interlinking, and the pillar(?) article links back to you?
 
I focus on topical authority first, then add links slowly that’s given the most stable and repeatable results.
 
For a new website focusing on building topical authority with content clusters should come first. Strong content foundation leads to better results with backlinks later on. It’s all about balance for long-term stability.
