I am tired of the poor account management provided by HostGator, and I'm dropping them because of it. I shouldn't have to talk to live support every time I want to do something with my account.

HostGator definitely deserves being #1 in the ranking. The only point is that the basic package does not allow working with dedicated IP for each Addon Domains.
I have also used Godaddy Hosting in the past for several clients of mine, it worked fine but its prices are not that that cheap. I also have to say that I had HUGE problems with its email solution. Many emails were never received which represents a very big issue. So that I switched to Google Apps for managing emails and it has been working perfectly since then.

i think op has copied from those top-10 affiliate websites...
well those guys just list the hosting that generate more commission for them as 1st one and the ranking is base on the money they earn from these companies not the quality of their services

I totally agree if the OP has no experience or no colleagues or friends with experience with these hosting providers then how do you justify who is better than another or deserves to be on this list....?

stay away from big shots. u r paying for ads and affs.
There is quite many complains about Godaddy being lousy host company. It would be nice hear some reasons why. If you have used Godaddy or any other host that you have something to complain I would appreciate if people could share their knowledge. Posts similas as "Godaddy sucks" doesn't have much value.
