Toothache Help??

I had 6 hours of oral surgery 3 years ago
The doctor prescribed Vicadin afterwards but i refused to take it for fear of dependency even though i knew i would be in enormous pain.

He suggested that i fill the presciption just to have it in case the pain becomes unbearable but try taking Ibuprofen AND Tylenol (acetomeniphen) TOGETHER and see if that works for me.

Let me tell you my friend that sh-t works.

He told me the max you can take combined is 4 x 200mg Ibu and 2 x 500mg tyl. He told that the 2 pain killers actually work better together because they both work in different ways to attack the pain ... tylenol works on nerve pain and advil works on tissue swelling.

Just to show you how well that combo worked for me ... i never used the Vicodin prescription and i never had to take more than 3 ibu and 2 tylenol every 4 hours ... I stayed on that prescription for 4 - 5 weeks never had any side effects or problems.

I told my sister about it when she had horrible tooth pain also but couldnt get to a doctor and she praised me for the info. She'd been taking 800mg of IBU alone with no effect. Now she's never without advil and tylenol in her medicine cabinet.

Make sure you eat with all that IBU and Tylenol in your system though. And dont take it longer than a few weeks without seeing a doctor.

Also make sure you dont have any asprin sensitivity before taking :D

Pain killers will not work, you need to find an anti-inflammatory pill such as Advil.

he's in pain.... not in inflammatory... lol

Pain killer----------------> X pain
anti-inflammatory--------> X inflammation

:p

Oil of cloves is a dental anaesthetic that's been used for a long time. It's very effective. They make what's called a Red Cross Toothache Kit and it has a bottle of eugenol (oil of cloves), cotton pellets, and tweezers. Dip the cotton in the eugenol, squeeze out the excess, and put the pellet in the cavity. Your toothache is history.

Brilliant suggestion, just 2 flaws with it, no.1 I hate cotton wool with a passion it goes through me like something you have never seen, you know when you see women who jump up on tables when they see a spider thats me with cotton wool.

No.2 have you ever tasted oil of cloves, omg it is foul, on a plus side though I cannot doubt that it works, it really does and if I could get past that horrible retching when I put it in my mouth I would use it all the time.

Seriously though i hope you didn't take that the wrong way, it's just me being sarcastic, thank you for your suggestion.

Hey who knows by the time I have finished I could write an e-book on the different remedies for pain relief, when you have toothache, everyone who has given ideas could get a share lol

hey a new niche how to deal with a toothache NICE :D

Amen...This is great!! Only stuff I have found to work.

Somewhat unrelated but anbesol works amazingingly well for numbing the skin to remove a splinter painlessly. Great tip if you have kids.

1ltr jack daniels, 1/2 after shock, 2 ltrs smirnof vodka.

Ok go and upset one of those hard geezers in a pub or the street then point to your bad tooth and then wait for the fist.
B it more pain to endure but

Sorted

What a trip! I have the exact same problem (cept I have not went to the dentist yet, just a major toothache... needs to be pulled bad!)

Anyway, i called my Aunt (who's ex husband was a dentist) and she said to put a bunch of salt into a glass of water (like as much as you can get to disolve) and put some in your mouth and swish it around until you cant stand the taste anymore... Do not rince with water to get the taste out... Then just keep doing that off and on for an hour or so and it will eventually numb it... It worked great for me!

Of course I combined that with some ASPRIN... Chew the asprin and let the powder sit right on the source of the pain (I know its beyond gross but it friggin works... takes about 20 minutes to start taking away the pain) Actually I did the asprin first and then the salt water thing cuz the salt water tastes like filet mingon compared to chewed up asprin!

Good luck

I have severe tooth ache, I have just been to see the emergency dentist amd she drilled half of the nerve out of my tooth, and now I am now in the most pain I could have ever imagined, I really need some help to get rid of the pain does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks

My dad pulled all of our teeth this way when I was a kid. And if that didn't work he used a pair of needle nosed pliars! No kidding! I thought thats how everyone did it until I got older. I wouldn't dream of doing this to myself, but looking back I dont really think it was that horrific or traumatising or anything.

I saw my dad do it once

He was a real real down to Earth Latvian hard man hard worker everything got shot in the war by those Russian tossers but survived running through some Woods came to England with his similar Bro.

AHH rest in conscious energy peace pops

DUDE!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I decided to google this to see if it was a USA made thing and read good reviews about it. It is 3am and my tooth was still hurting so bad I went to rite aid and just bought some. This stuff fully rocks! I tastes like wholy hell (tastes just like what they use at the dentist actually) but it works WAAAY better than anbesol or any of that junk... I mean waaay better. You have no idea how much better I feel within like 5 minutes!

This seems like the wierdest place to be talking about thi but who cares!

To the OP,... Go get some of this dude!
haha

Thanks

I'm stoked about this thread. It's awesome to see everyone helping out with some really great info. I've suffered many toothaches before I got insurance and started seeing the dentist regularly. It's truly horrible to have a toothache, glad to hear that some of these suggestions are working. Rock on, Black Hat World.

My father was a dentist, but the only thing i've ever needed for a toothache was a bottle of any liquor. Since it's so high in alcohol content anything it touches gets annihilated since its a strong antiseptic. Just keep swishing it around the tooth that hurts and it should clear up in a day or two. Opiates though kill the pain like nothing else. poppy tea?
