Tools to keep me informed of backlinks?

So I've been looking around on Google but I cant seem to find anything like this...

Is there a website out there that will keep you informed of your backlink progress? I'm not exactly sure how it'd work but I'd imagine you sign up, enter your domain, it tells you that you have "#" backlinks... then it will automatically e-mail you as you earn new backlinks.

Just a quick way to keep you informed of your backlink progress without having to go to sites like backlinkwatch.com over and over again.

There has to be something out there like this...

Did you try Google Alerts? You could make an alert for every time Google finds a link to your domain - that would let you know:
1. If you got a link, and who from
2. When Google finds those backlinks you are building


Use the "link:" operator (you can use all the Google advanced operators). Make a Google account for it - just create a new gmail. Then you can get some extra control over alerts.

Another very similar approach is to use Google News + RSS Feeds to track new links (works better for a blog):

What tools are U using?
What is the recommended way or tool to check backlinks in my sites?

Where can I learn basic stuff like:

**What is the meaning of "being indexed"?
**What does a "unique" means?
And things like that, because I read those almost in all threads but doesn't
understand the meaning!.

I searched in vain for this for a few days.

I thought it would be great to have a script that would allow you to add a URL and each day it would scrape Yahoo Site explorer. If any new links were found then it would compile them into a text file, email it to you and store it online for that particular day.

You could then easily grab the list each day, throw it in bookmarking demon and "charge up" all of the pages that link to your site by doing bookmarking runs on them.

This didn't exist. I had a few people on this board tell me that they could create it custom without too much work though.

You might want to try LinkEx , you can install it on your site and run a daily cron that will disable any backlinks that are not linking back anymore.

Will Google Alert help us in this task? And how quickly will google find our backlinks? Will this also help in seo?
