tools/programs/websites that extract email etc

How often do you think people look at tools/programs "behind the scenes" and decompile a .exe file to see what it is really doing?

I had random thought that I wondered if any of these extractors that are offered to you for free are done so because when the .txt file is compiled of all your extracted datat (emails/phone #, etc) it does two things. One, Puts list scraped data in .txt file for you and behind the scenes does that same exact thing for them. And then you release said product for free and instead of running the extractor once on one website at once......you are know running it on hundreds or thousands of websites.

If the tool client side -like desktop app- you could check that using tool like fiddler or Wireshark... if server side tool no way to check.
