Tools for Checking Expired Domains

Hi:

I just bought 2 expired domains with good metrics like:

DA PA TF CF

I also checked 1st and last shots of both domains with Internet Archive

archive . org

Both of the domains were on same niche from start to finish

Then I went to MOZ Open site Explorer to check :

Spam Score: 0/17

But, both domains are Not indexed in Google, which makes me think something fishy, since last shots of Internet Archive were from Feb 17...

Those are the steps I used to check before buying an expired domain, but I am just returning to Internet Marketing and I want to kow if there any other trustable tools or new ways to check if a domain was banned in Google in 2018?

Is there any content on them? If not toss a little content on there and see if it gets indexed. Honestly even just installing WP should be enough that it will get indexed - but depending on the quality of the backlinks, maybe toss a couple fresh links for Google to follow and see if it gets indexed then. (Also, I would ideally recommend something more than just the raw WP install, just pointing out that it shouldn't require much)

Again, you missed the most important metric which is RD. PA/DA are jokes and CF is pointless. Moz spam score is a bigger joke than PA and DA combined.

Fact that the expired domain isn't indexed doesn't mean anything. If it's clean, it will get indexed without any problems.

Somehow I really doubt these are clean though.

Check archive, domain tools (then are paid now), hosting history, anchors, historic anchors, backlinks and if everything looks good, then the domain is most likely clean.

There was content on both of them, I will add some links and about 15 posts to each of them. Thanks

You are right man, I wish I had read your post before:
Current Expired Domain Situation - Lies, Costs, Metrics, Spam and Niche Relevancy

RD is 28 and only 2, DA 11 and 7, PA 21 and 22, TF 10 and 5, CF 8 and 4

Ahrf 44 and 10, SEM 41 and 88, Maje 32 and 21

The historial backlinks part though... is not good... Historial backlink 135 and 885

Not spammy links in ahrfs though...

I now these aint great metrics, but I guess they are not terrible, but I was going to use them for 301 my money site...

Not doing it after reading your guide, but I will host them next to my money site, fill them with 20+ posts each and I am going to put affiliate links on them as well, and I will NOT build a backlink to my money site, until they have some social metrics and some free guests posts on them. I mean not hide them from Google, cause anyway, these domains doesn't seem to works for a PBN.

I thinks that they were not terrible after all, after reading your low your expectations post, which makes sense.

Since you said you had already bought the domains I was focusing more on the indexing part rather than the checks to do beforehand like Nargil mentioned - but I fully agree that better filtration in the first place is the best way to know that your domains will be good.

15 posts seems like a lot of effort for a site you're already having trouble indexing. I would throw 1-3 on there personally and not add any more until it indexed. Even in the case where I add 3, it wouldn't really be because I think the extra posts are going to help the domain get indexed, it's because I'd rather Google's first encounter with my newly re-registered domain while it has a little bit of content on it. If it won't index with 1-3, I don't think it will index any better with 15 - you've got a bigger issue at that point and probably best moving on.



Of those 750 historic links that have disappeared, are there spammy links in there (have you dug through those as well, or just the current links?)?

Have you checked more than first/last captures on archive.org?

Try visiting the websites of some of the more recently found backlinks on ahrefs - what quality and how old are these links, and does that match with your assumptions about the domain's previous usage?

You've to check manually in Google search is the best trustable choice.
