When is it too much too soon?

I decided to buy a few packages, that had 2.0s, social, etc..... Some had PBN, Guestblogging, etc... I also got some camo your link in a high authority site or story about a dozen of them for home and construction.

It seems like they may have overlapped in about a month. On ahrefs, the graph claims I added about 250 backlinks through 100 domains. Almost evenly split between nofollows and follows.

So, keep my head down, and blog every day? Worry about adding more anchors in maybe 90 to 120 days at the earliest.

Your post is missing a few details that would help us actually answer your question. How old is the site? Were there links built previously or are these the first? Are they all built to one URL or multiple? How's your anchor diversity?

If you really did do too much too soon, it's kind of a tricky spot. It's sketchy to have a bunch of links out of nowhere, but it's also sketchy to have a bunch of links coming in and then stop all of a sudden. I'd definitely focus on fleshing out your site if you haven't, and then diversify your backlinks a bit with a bunch of url/brand/generic anchors to make for a more natural profile. You can then taper off so there isn't just a sudden peak and valley.
 
You have to do constantly, and build tiers. I'd recommend building a few quality tier 1's (like top web 2.0) and build on them. Worked better in my case, especially if domain is new.
 
My site is an electrical contracting one. Just your neighborhood electrician site that is two years old. It is designed much differently than how stuff in BHW is done. Simple ho-hum, boring stuff really.

So it shows a large spike in the last 30 days. Lots of anchor 2.0s with various tiers, a few authority stuff referring back to me. I have social signals being shat upon me for about a month.

I figure just go and keep going but do something else and not as fast like you said. Just rewrite the whole site, page by page. Add real photos instead of stock photos. Blog about things like who regulates electricians, how long to become one, where to verify the insurance and license numbers, etc.... in a 750 to 1000 word article. No one writes about the permiting process from a customer's perspective. No one gives a pedestrian explanation of the National Electric Code.
 
According to Ahrefs in the Anchor Cloud I have 30 terms, mostly parking lot or led lighting related. I of course have the company name and the company website name up high, but not the heaviest weight for an anchor. I wanted to add my father or my name and Master Electrician in the next batch as well as bucket truck with electrician etc.....

I figured to go diverse, but walk it out not to run.

My focus is on commercial, industrial, institutional, government/municipal, parking lot lighting and then residential electrical.
 
So I take it you're a local business then? There's a guy in the BST section here doing a service built on local citations, you might be interested in checking that out.
 
I also had a bunch of citations done followed by some citation corrections for my older stuff. That predates my spike in backlinks after XMAS by a few months. Someone said I have a hundred plus, maybe 200 citations (not saying they are perfect).

I want to own local: so press releases, Q&As, more blogging, videos, local landing pages for each town possibly each service in town, Social media with advertising from them, cold calling, and direct mail.
 
Looks like some links will fall off here and there on ahrefs every so often. I found a webpage to look at my serp rankings to get a gauge of where I am at and now have lots of top 10 stuff. a good number of top 3 stuff as well.

Question for later, if I am placing well for North Carolina Industrial Electrician do I get anchor text saying Industrial Electrical Contractor North Carolina and other variants to try and capture the majority of that kind of term and related words?
 
What are your rankings like? Ranking at all? Increased with backlinks? It is best to order one package at a time and track your rankings so you know what works and what does not.
 
Yeah I didn't really super think it through to measure it out. I will do so from now on. I made a xl sheet from what's my serp to compare against.

I was flailing about trying to stay alive. I will go more slowly from now on and be able to quantify what works where and when.
 
Likely not all the links from the packages you bought have shown up yet. But if you stop it altogether now, then soon (maybe another couple weeks) you will see the the graph going one way down.
 
I shot up to a 32 url , rank 43 domain rank, 318 backlinks, 122 domains 45% follow to 55% no follow
 
I also threw some social signals being dripped over 60 days over the site from a package here. So far

Just try it mix it up as best you can and drip feed. Make it look likes everything's natural. You can add more link juice to your 2nd and 3rd tiers
 
You can hit it too hard when you first start out with a website. There's a healthy balance you try
to achieve with a website and knowing what that percentage is comes down to experience with
rankings websites.

Let's put it this way. If you have a site with 5 articles and 400 links...Well does that look natural? :P
So the more content you have the more you can get away with launching campaigns.

I figured as much. I throw competitors that are local and statewide as well as some websites done by people I find here and there and find 2/3 or 3/4 follows. I even throw in HVAC (heating and cooling), remodelers, etc.... just to try and informally benchmark as I slowly learn.

Most contractor sites are horrible. I guess the adage would be you don't have to be the fastest runner just outrun the pegleg competition.

My site is 2 years old, according to my site map I have pages lots of pages. Measured in urls it is 40, 49, 1000, 614 url. Mostly local service pages.

My links go mainly to my main page and then to about four other big pages. I know I will have to start spreading stuff around. My social activity is drip fed on the main flagship url.

I will just have to spread it further out and do it slower.

I just thought of some more creative ways for guest blogging that should work well. It takes advantage of more local based focus to my business.
 
Can I keep adding anchors or do I have to replace them out? It seems like ahrefs only shows 30, is that the max for it? Use the anchors to chase the harder keywords or more searched terms for best allocation of said resource?
