Okay I will admit I feel like a fool for posting this, but frankly, I am unsure on what step to take. (Also I have been on here for a while but haven't rly posted and thought this may be the correct thread)

I've read so many ebooks and all of the great threads here on this forum, but I found out that I am overwhelmed by the great number of strategies (from using youtube, myspace, article writing, affiliate marketing, etc.), and am unable to just pick one out. Seeing as helpful as you guys are, would you just blatantly tell me which I should pick? (I know, I know, but I am just a huge worrier). Thanks guys!

-Note: I cannot invest a single penny until I have made $40...a rule that I must follow.

P.S. I know this sounds so very cliche its not even funny, but still I am curious. I just got done reading this post on how 99% is bs an you gotta find what works for you, but should I just jump in and see what will work by using articles and such? Again, thank you for your time.

    There is no "right" way.
But there are steps you need to achieve.

Decide on market others or develop own product
    Get good URL (s)
    Sitebuild - optimize
    Monetize
Get a ton of TARGETTED traffic
for this Articles, blogposts, buying links, buying traffic (PPC) all work in different areas.

Have a look at the niche. If there are a ton of discussion blogs but not much selling - then blogpostings and forum stuff will get you decent results.

In info niches then a free downloadable PDF (with some links in of course) is a nice one.

    PPC is profit margin allows

Buying high ranking links is ok in most areas.

Article marketing if you are a decent writer. I DON'T recommend article spinners for long. They work great for a couple of months then flop.
Since March this year even 80% copyscape proofed articles are starting to slip. I think Google has really tightened up on synonyms, metaphors and antonyms - and hits the high PR article sites first.

You're better off targetting the top 5 or 10 article sites these days as Metanalyts claims there are 14 million dedicated "article" sites now (11 times more than December 2008) and the value of sites that just have articles on them is plumetting - with the exception of the top 5 or 10 (ezine, go, buzzle etc)

I think it's because people are setting up hundreds of sites then selling an article distribution service for a fee - The problem is loads of people have had this same idea at the same time and flooded the article site niche with (literally) millions of article sites.

I gotta go at the first replys point (although I agree with everything else he says)

If cured includes eradicated by vaccine then the list is endless. If it menas symptoms reduced dramatically - then there is another huge list.

From ZDT for HIV to vaccines for Diptheria,Polio,Malaria, Dysentry all MASSIVE killers in the past in the western world - now barely account for any deaths at all.

Breast cancer levels held (they have always increased) leukemia death rates for both children and adults plummeted (and drugs played a big part)

I could go on and on and on (but I wont :))

Homeopathy ans cured people of hip stress by taking some of the weight out of wallet and replacing it with cack.

Hmm interesting insight...I'm thinking of using squidoo, ezinearticles, blogger, etc. to do affiliate marketing...although I haven't had much luck before with this so I was thinking of doing youtube stuff a little bit but just seems that it wouldn't work...but I'll never know till I try I guess :)

well basically its because I don't want others to know that I am researching quite yet(seeing as I live with others), and I thought when I made that then it wouldn't be a problem and I could get my own domain, etc.

Never ever jump from opportunity to opportunity, never giving it time to grow and to become profitable.

You have to understand that Internet Marketing is a REAL business. And like with any other business you have to learn certain skills and build it on SOLID ground.

My advice to you would be not to go after that 'quick easy money' but after continually growing, long lasting profits.

Decide on ONE method that gives you a good feeling, learn everything necessary to get you started and then take ongoing action until you make some profit. Then do everything you can to scale it up (outsourcing, automating, etc.) to grow your profit even more.

After having accomplished this you can use another method, using the same steps as before... then another method... and another... until you have eventually several stable profit streams.

    Thats about it.

I don't know many marketers who made a great deal in their first year.
Some...but not many. Most QUIT in first year.
Stick at it - find out what works for you (i.e your own skill set)
If you are still in the game after 12-18 months - still willing to learn and work a decent amount - then you will probably succeed.

Most people "are not" - "do not" - "don't want to" - and fail.

Don't get suckered into "Even if you know nothing you can earn 1000's a week starting today" deals.

Learn the basics. site, optimize, traffic, monetize (lather rinse repeat)

    I mean the first question might be;
Do you want 200-300 micro sites, 20-30 mini sites or 2 or 3 "authority" sites? (they are all hard work)

Do you want a site at all? (despite what some might tell you the answer to this should be yes)

    It's all good fun :)

Ultimately, you will always do better if you choose a niche which you are passionate about or that you are already somewhat knowledgeable about. For instance, in the offline world, if you are a talented musician, you will do better playing in a band than you would by working as a computer support technician.

Sit down with a pen and notebook and write down some things you already know about, or are passionate about, or what you think you would enjoy. Then find an affiliate product that is related to that niche.

    Cheers! - "Wiz"

Yeah I agree you are right that I should stick with one method and don't get distracted by all these "amazing offers" and eventually upscale. And Scritty, I was thinking of getting a blog at first instead of a website then as I get the resources I get it. I always seem to worry about keywords and competition, but that's something I'll have to figure out.

Also I think I might use one week marketing eventually, or should I just make up my own method? Thanks for all the advice you guys I appreciate it :)

if you want to start for free, the best ways to do that are with a blog (say on blogger.com or wordpress.org), or something like writing for associated content. you will learn alot there and make a few bucks while you learn. blogging really is a great way to test out a lot of things - you can test different ad markets, different writing strategies, learning about seo, and even selling stuff via your blog. it's easy. then if you like it you can buy a domain and do what u like.
