2 quick questions. I've seen so many different answers and just want this put to rest:

1. I'm about to use xrumer for a brand new site. I was told I cannot be penalized by google for getting too many third party links too quickly. Is this true or do I want to space them out. If I should space them out, how many at what intervals?

2. I have a Business2Business site that is also new with a low PR. If I submit a lot of articles with my URL to high PR sites like ezine, how can I prevent my articles on a social networking site from ranking higher in the SERPs than MY actual domain for the keywords I am targetting. Thanks!

1. We all wish we knew the G's algorithm. What you're being told is not always based on testing, but what individuals' believe are happening regarding backlinks. The best answer is to test this yourself if you doubt what you're being told by others. I choose to believe that too many links with the same content is not good. Also keep in mind that the "penalty" you're referring to is your pages will end up in the supplemental results. It does not mean that your site will be deindexed.

2. To prevent your site from being outranked by the social networking/social bookmarking sites, you need to use unique content on your site and submit unique content to the other sites. In other words, do not use the same article for your site and the other sites. If you do, as you've identified, the higher pr site will be on top. If you always use unique content, you will be ranked based on your content and your backlinks. You will then benefit from both marketing strategies.

Good stuff Imfh. Really appreciate it. Since xrumer posts to a mass (100k+) amount of forums, do you think I should alter each post submitted after every 10k submitted?

Dont risk it with xrummer if you plan on white hat bussiness. I personally believe that too much links are bad at once. Tried once in the past some link sites with thousands links but i got very bad results. At first it works for few days may be weeks then boom. You got a slap. So for white site do not do it. Do it the proper way. Use Xrummer only for 'black' projects. Thats its idea anyway.
Good luck

i think occasionally spikes in backlinks is okay, as long as it's not from the same site/ip. for example, let's say i've just launch an excellent free ebooks, and it spreads virally, do you think G will ban it? don't think so.

That's too bad. Daniel affirms time and time again google wouldn't penalize sites that use xrumer, but I don't know...It's too bad really, xrumer is amazing.

Its all a big myth...you can never have "too much" links. What might happen though if your website is spammy and it draws the attention of a human being at google for review it will definitely get slapped. At the end of the day there are countless websites out there that all of a sudden have hundreds of thousands of links pointing at them because of whatever circumstance ( mentioning on TV, some breakthrough, going viral etc..etc) they don't end up getting dropped from google. But Xumer is not something you want to play around with if you want to maintain your website because it will eventually get reported somewhere and end up getting banned. Since your posting in the whitehat section I'm assuming your planning on marketing a white hat website. I'd keep Xumer off my tool list if thats the case.

i read somewhere that google admitted that it does have human reviewers from different parts of the world. but i guess you have to be in top 10 of certain hi volume keywords to get your site checked.

maybe use xrumer to point links at web2.0 sites....the web2.0 site points to your main site...keep the dirt at the web2.0 site....
xrumer links>hudpage>wetpaint>your main site
link juice shoud bleed thur to you....
keep the links growing to your main site growing slow...under radar

Does anyone else recommend this? I saw another post claiming that google slapped the hell out of sites that did link farms>social networking sites>main site.

Google does penalize you, and will basically won't count those links as quality link backs.

Google can basically see a trend and see the rate of how quickly/slowly the link backs are increasing.

If it's slow it's cool but it's rapid, something doesn't look right. But if the links are from social network sites, they can understand that and could lower the quality as well.

Huh? Google could lower the quality of your site if they see the links are from social networking sites?

I've never used xrumer, so I could not advise on its use. There are plenty of folks here that can speak from their own experience with using this tool.

am thinking when you start getting over 10k of links in a relatively short period of time for a brand new domain you maybe pushing your luck but i see competitors sites popping up and staying around for a while with literally 3-5k of links what seem to appear like overnight...

It wont hurt you to build links too fast, however you want to build links so that it looks natural to your site. If you build links to internal parts of your webpage and to the main page I am sure you will have a lot more success. This will also help with getting ranked for the long tail keywords.

I would not use xrummer on a white hat site either. But that is just me. I have had really good luck back building the hard way for pretty competive keywords.

Thanks, am just going to take this route :)
