wtF is that? @ first i thought it was just a spoof vid, but the more i look at it, the more it looks like somebody has over reacted to a 'candid camera' type of moment.

:chairfall

fuckin' hilarious that is.

It's nice to see that people defend the "mom's" out there, but it's pretty obvious he isn't degrading his mom, just sharing a funny!

I have my mom trained, so whenever she needs computer assistance she immediately moves out of the way so I can do my thing. She knows she isn't computer savvy and after watching me bang my head on the keyboard a few times I think she realizes it's easier to just get out of of the way! LOL!!

I think making fun of the person who raised you on a blackhat marketing forum because they weren't born into a computer generation and raised on windows is far worse than anything that can be said here.

How would you like if your mother was going on forums making fun of you behind your back?

Pretty sick imo.

No, no, no.....

Not making fun of my mom....which is why i dont respond

She is so "sure" shes rught...lol

But if you want to know what kind of people use explorer....

I wonder this can be a "basic" method to figure out the demographic/type of pple who visit your sites.....go to your stats and see what percentage of pple are using which browser....lol

Sounds about right. My mother has very little interest in computers and is happy enough, in her words, "to be able to turn it off an on again". I guess the only problem is that she still gets stuck with that sometimes hehe

Of course she's from a different generation and as I mentioned has very little interest in them. My dad on the other hand, same age, actually takes an interest and is actually the person who got me interested in computers in the first place.

My dad: I would explain it to him.

My mum: I'd tell dad, and let him impliment it for her instead :D

Sharing techy information with people who don't know about it is very hard. Very, very hard. Like, trying explaining facebook to your grandmother. Almost impossible. There is nothing to really compare it to.

I remember a friend of mine who was a phone support technician for Gateway
telling me that he once received a call from a lady who frantically said, "Sir,
I am at my wit's end. I can't find the key to my computer." My friend replied,
"Key to your computer?! . . . What do you mean?" . . . She said, "Well, I
called earlier today and spoke with a different person and asked him if there
was a way to make sure that I could save all my stuff in case something
went wrong with my computer, and he said that I should "back up" my
computer. Hell! . . . how can I back it up, when I can't even make it go
forward? . . . That's why I need the key!"

True story . . . . :)

Doesn't have to be the older generation either.
My other half really couldn't give a fuck what she's using as long as it'll open a bingo site :P

Also, she will open multiple instances rather than use tabs because she 'doesn't understand' them...

This lady at my job told the IT dept that the cup holder on her computer stopped working. The IT guy came over and asked her WTF she was talking about. This slow (expletive) was talking about the CD rom drive that pops out of her computer tower!!

That is good. Reminds me of a friend that was working a help desk and called to complain about the F1 key not working. She said she keeps pressing it and no one shows up.... True story.

Now as far as the statement from another poster about old people being stupid, it is more of a matter of interest. There was a post here recently about an 80 year old with an ecommerce site and making $$$.

I would be willing to bet that old person could build a car, house and supply his own food all by being stupid. Can you? Probably not. Guess that makes you stupid. Just because someone can not or does not want to do something, does not make them stupid.

Outside of my own IM, I do SEO and PPC for a living. Anytime someone asks me, "what do you do for a job", I am immediately pained. I usually say "oh.. IT" and hope that it stops there. Explaining SEO and PPC to a person with even moderate technological knowledge is a challenge. Even if they understand the concept, they look at you wondering why you would ever choose to do that, lol.

my dad hasn't really used a computer in 20 yrs......he has me or somebody else browse/order stuff for him online...that's it. i don't think he can really type.

love my dad to pieces.....it's funny to see him poke at the keys
:D

i think when you get to a certain age, it's hard to have 'young kids' tell you how the world runs....you get to a point where you're the one giving the advice ....you don't wanna feel like a moron.

i think that the world's changing so much and so fast....'keeping up' gets harde and harder as the years go bye.

Why do alot of older people use the excuse that they didn't grow up with computers or they too old to not learn how to use a computer?

All the people that really started the pc in the late 70's and 80's. Are most likely 55+ with alot of them in their 70's now. And back then it was alot harder to use a computer then ones made starting in the mid 90's.

fuckin' hilarious that is.

Its not a vid, its a game. You move a gamepiece around using ur mouse (not the arrow keys). You move it through a maze-like thing and if the piece touches the walls, your out.

On the last level, the path gets really narrow so people concentrate really hard. in the middle a zombie thing comes up and screams really loud...

And that's when the magic happens.
