So today I received a DMCA Takedown Notice
mail from Shopify.

The point was that I stole descriptions from a dropshipper. 2 hours later I also received a message from the seller and he threatened that I had to remove it and 500 euros a day fine if I do not remove.

I don't know if I should take that threat seriously ..
So I went crazy, and I deleted my shopify store and my business email and my company.

They are right, but it is just a description and I had changed it a little bit but well.

I don't know if people have experience with this.

I just started 3 months ago and don't know everything. Almost made me the first $ 1000 in sales.

I am very proud of myself that I have come a long way, but deep down I am really sad that it went like this.

An online business is my dream, and in business I really got to know myself better. That you really have to be patient and that you have to have a plan and that you have to do everything step by step and not in a hurry. My goal is to make 2000 $ A month by June 1. I hope I will make it .. But for now I will take a break

Who knows if he would sue even, but if he just asks you to change the description, thats the least you can do. I don't think you wouldve had to delete everything, but at least you learned to be careful with intellectual property for next time :)
 
Why break? For one article? You can pay an expert for 20/30$ to write it. Don't take a break, it's hard to back after that. Trust me! Just work smart and don't steal from the big guys! You can get 2000$ in February if you work every day! Best wishes!
 
No one can sue you for a product discription.. instead you are selling branded products you don't have right to sale.

You are right, in this 3 months when things got hard, i did go mad to sleep and the next day i found a solution. But now i'm really down and need to start over and find a new product and build a new store
 
Just re-write your descriptions and move on. It's understandable to panic if you get a notice like this for the first time, but more often than not, the issue doesn't progress as long as you rectify what it is they're complaining about.

I hope i won't get in trouble, but it was a great timing because my store wasn't running anymore due to myself not understanding marketing that well. But my next store i will do everything better

OK, your title is very misleading .. I am one of the many around this forum that read about people getting sued and lawsuits to better prepare to combat any issues.. You didn't get sued.. a takedown notice is just that, it doesn t mean you re getting sued. Not all notices are serious or can get you in trouble.. But if you think it might be a real takedown notice, you're fine as long as you change the things they issued the takedown notice for. So just change the description and let's move on..
 
Why can't you rewrite the descriptions and continue selling?

If you can't do it yourself then hire someone since you're already making money.

I can continu selling, but i don't want to do it because i want to start something new and do it in 1x good

You probably over reacted but seems here you needed a push to take a pause and restart. You made sales so you can't say you don't understand marketing, you did OK, just work on doing better this time.
 
:) Demanding an amount without a court order is funny :)
Products descriptions are not under copyright protection.
Possible if is product review ..
 
You made 1k in sales but didn't think to just pay a guy $10 to write a new description?
 
The due won't do a dime thing. Still rewrite description. If you are into SEO, you shouldn't copy and paste.

They cant email you or mail you your lawsuit papers. Plus the 500 a day thing is extortion, grounds to countersue into the ground.

Software developers are doing the same thing with their software when it is pirated, they can find the pirated copies and tell the downloaders that they will go to court or they can pay restitution in the amount of $25,000 even though the software itself may cost only $700.

Either way it is not allowed. Unfortunately closing your whole business just looks shady from the outside looking in, plus this guy threatening you would at the very least have to walk his ass down to the courthouse and file a case in small claims which would run him $75 average PLUS have to contact a process server to personally serve you or shell out thousands to serve you via publication ie a newspaper ad that must be run for 8 weeks.

Doubt he has the money, time, or intelligence to initiate such a process given his petty extortion attempts.
 
Don't use Google Ads. Your titles are misleading af.
 
And he can't force to pay you anything.

All you gotta do is reupload another image and change the description thats it

you should sign back in and reopen your site dude. You can't be afraid of small shit like that if you want to be successful
