Part of Blackhat SEO is using all of the tools to gain the edge over competitors. In keeping with this, I was wondering if we could have a HTML or Coding section topic where web pages coding could be discussed for the benefit of all. Ideal posts would be about learning how much of a web page is actually viewed when crawled, how to move key information to the top so the search engines see it. Keyword use, percentages, meta tag strategies, etc.. The idea is to get the most out of the hard earned back links, and other techniques. I believe this would help a lot of members.

surely if you're making a website you should have a working knowledge of HTML anyway? :p

PHP is easy enough to pickup anyway, thats the whole point of it really. From start to finish it took me about 4 hours to get a strong foundation then a week or so to learn it inside out. Its not hard at all.

Theres already PHP books etc. here if you look. Alot of on-page SEO (ie the HTMl etc.) is in the whitehat seo, just have a quick look there. You'll find everything you need.

Of course, there is a programming forum if you need to ask questions in there, as PHP is compiled thus technically a programming language :p

I'm going to agree with Essential Clix and Jamie - Everything that you really want to know already falls pretty neatly under either the White Hat SEO or the programming forums here.

Learning to construct a basic Web page isn't too hard, but to really get into the guts of it, well, these topics get complicated quickly, and (no offense to BHW) there are much better places, online where someone can get really into it if they are looking to hone their HTML skills.

we here don't need to program as if we can't do it, we just outsource it :p

i totally didn't realise in the programming section there was a html&js section. could be useful!
